Paper-II : English Language & Comprehsion :Questions in this components will be designed to test the
candidate‘s understanding and knowledge of English Language and will be based on spot the error, fill in the
blanks, synonyms, antonyms, spelling/detecting mis-spelt words, idioms & phrases, one word substitution,
improvement of sentences, active/passive voice of verbs, conversion into direct/indirect narration, shuffling of
sentence parts, shuffling of sentences in a passage, close passage & comprehension

The Dadasaheb Phalke Award is India's highest award in cinema given annually by


theGovernment of India for lifetime contribution to Indian cinema. It was instituted in 1969,[1] the
birth centenary year of Dadasaheb Phalke,[2] considered as the father of Indian cinema.[3]
The award for a particular year is given during the end of the following year along with
theNational Film Awards. The award comprises a Swarna Kamal (golden lotus) medallion, a cash
prize of   1 million and a shawl.[4]

The Bombay High Court had directed the Directorate of Film Festivals, India (DFFI) to consider


uncensored films for the competition, a case which DFFI contested and won in theSupreme
Court in late 2006. The case had delayed announcement of the award for 2006, which was
announced in the middle of 2008. The 2007 award which had to be announced at the end of 2008
was announced in September 2009. The 2008 award was announced on 19 January 2010 and
2009 award was announced on 9 September 2010.[4]

SUBJECT: Holding of Central Excise Departmental Examination of Inspectors for


confirmation. - Regarding.

As per Ministry's letter F.No.A-34011/1/2003 AD-III.A dated 13.08.03, NACEN is conducting


examination for different grade of the officers of the department. NACEN, RTI, Kanpur is entrusted with
holding of Central Excise Departmental Examination of Inspectors for confirmation. Such departmental
examination for Inspectors has already been conducted by this academy in December’2010. It has been
decided to hold this examination again on the dates i.e. 21, 22, 23 & 24 June’2011. The schedule of
examination and syllabus for the examination scheduled on dates 21, 22, 23 & 24 June’2011 are enclosed
vide Annexure I & II to this letter.

The eligibility of a candidate to appear in the examination is to be decided by the respective Cadre
Controlling authority in terms of the relevant recruitment rules. The Chief Commissioners / Director Generals /
Commissioners may examine the eligibility of the same and sponsor the names of the eligible candidates.

Commissionerates / Directorates are requested to make necessary arrangements to conduct the


departmental examination on the scheduled dates.

NACEN, RTI, Kanpur shall make arrangements for sending all the question papers to
Commissionerates / Directorates. The dispatch / distribution of the packets containing question papers
intended for various centers of examination may be done at your end. This would ensure timely receipt of the
question papers at the examination centre.

In order to enable this academy to plan for preparation of the requisite number of question papers and
their timely dispatch, requirement of your office may be sent in the prescribed proforma vide Annexure-III to,

Kanpur (Tel. No.0512 -2580682, Fax No.0512-2585033) so as to reach this office at NACEN,

RTI, Kanpur latest by 10.05.2011 through E-Mail (MS-Word or MS-Excel file) on


our E-mail ID n a c e n k a n p u r @ g m a i l . c o m only. Beyond this date, it may not be
possible to consider any request for increase in the number of candidates.
Efforts would be made to ensure that question papers reach you latest by 10.06.2011, however, you
may closely monitor receipt of the sealed packets of the question papers at your end. The Question Papers
intended for various examination centers under your charge shall also be sent to you. Any variation on
account of non-receipt of the question papers may be brought to the notice of the undersigned immediately.
It is also clarified that all the Answer Books pertaining to your various examination centers should also be
forwarded by the Commissionerate / Directorate and not by the individual examination center .

The cadre controlling Commissioners are requested to inform the eligible officers who are on
deputation with other Directorates / Organizations and include their requirements also.

The Cadre Controlling Commissioners may note that clarifications regarding eligibility of the
candidates would fall outside the purview of NACEN and therefore no correspondence on this account need
be forwarded to NACEN, RTI, Kanpur. The concerned Commissioners are required to ensure satisfaction of
the eligibility conditions for appearing in this examination. Instruction contained in G.S.R.-217issued by the
Ministry of Finance (D.O.R.), New Delhi dated 12.12.2008 may also be referred in this regard.

It is also informed that a unique Roll. No. for all papers should be allotted to the candidate by

prefixing alphabets and then number (Text/Number) viz. “Insp/01”. The name of
Commissionerate should not be considered as Text.

Geography etc. and General Knowledge relating to production of the excisable goods in India and excise
procedure relating to Domestic Industry Exports Oriented Unit, Electronics Hardware Technological Park, and
Software Technological Park etc. Knowledge of the candidates of the procedure and work, he has been
handling during the period of training will be particularly tested.
