CERTIFICATE No CAL-30/2010-0309
We confirm that :
2) The measuring equipment used to calibrate the cargo tanks, has individual calibration certificates,
directly traceable to National Standards or has been checked against such equipment before and
after measurement.
3) The physical dimensions of the tank were measured in sufficient positions to guarantee an overall
accuracy of 0.1%.
4) Calculations and computations of the main capacity tables and additional correction tables were
made by computer and are based on sound mathematical principles.

DESCRIPTION OF TABLES
1) GENERAL
Gives a detailed description of items mentioned in the list of contents and information about
the level gauge system.
Includes one example of calculation for the main cargo tanks. The example show usage of all
correction tables.
Gives for each tank 100 % capacity, expansion hatch capacity included, at 15 °C.
Gives for each tank 95.0%, 98.0%, 98.5% and 99.0% capacity with corresponding liquid
height at even keel and upright condition.
Gives the correction to be applied to the measured liquid height for the change in float
immersion for densities different to 0.580 kg/l.
The corrections are based upon the immersion data for a stainless steel float Ø 127 mm,
obtained from the supplier Henri systems Holland B.V.
Enter the table with liquid density at tank temperature to obtain correction.
Linear interpolation may be used if the value lies between those tabulated.
Gives the correction to be applied to the measured liquid height for the effect of vapor
temperature on the tank and gauge wire.
Enter the table with the measured liquid height and the vapor temperature to obtain the
correction.
Linear interpolation may be used if the value lies between those tabulated.
The correction for trim is based upon the length between perpendiculars (165.0 m)
Gives the correction to be applied to the measured liquid height for the effect of trim.
Enter the table with the measured liquid height and the appropriate value of trim to obtain
correction.
Linear interpolation may be used if the measured value lies between those tabulated.

DESCRIPTION OF TABLES
Gives the correction to be applied to the measured liquid height for the effect of list.
Enter the table with the measured liquid height and the appropriate value of list to obtain
correction.
Linear interpolation may be used if the measured value lies between those tabulated.
Gives a correction factor to adjust partial or total capacities for cargo tank temperatures other than
15 °C.
Linear interpolation may be used if the measured value lies between those tabulated.
The liquid heights are to be obtained with the aid of the HSH 807 marine level gauges.
Drawing No. 1 shows the position of these level gauges and indicates the minimum reading.
Drawing No. 2 shows the location of temperature sensors in the tank.
For the vessel lying in any other position or with a differing tank shell temperature or density, the
appropriate correction tables should be used to correct the measured liquid height, prior to entering
the main capacity table.
Linear interpolation may be used if the liquid height lies between the tabulated values.

a = Level above true zero where float becomes buoyant in liquid with a density of 0.580 kg/l. The level
gauges are correctly set when, at an average tank temperature of 15 °C and the floats resting on
their supports, value "a" is obtained as reading.
c = Distance to aft bulkhead.
d = Distance to center bulkhead.
i = Immersion of float.
e = Height of bottom plate in sump for float stilling well.
f = Height of sump.

EXAMPLE OF CALCULATION
STEP 1 : Enter table 3A with the density of liquid of 0.550 kg/l to obtain the correction for change in
float immersion.
correction = + 1 mm
STEP 2 : Enter table 3B with a vapor temperature of -18 °C to obtain the correction on level
readings for temperature.
correction = + 3 mm
STEP 3 : Enter table 3C with a value of trim of 2.8 meters by stern and a measured liquid height
of 2751 mm to obtain the trim correction.
correction = - 109 mm
STEP 4 : Enter table 3D with a value of list of 1.5 degrees to port and a measured liquid height of
2751 mm to obtain the list correction.
correction = + 88 mm
STEP 5 : To calculate corrected liquid height, apply the corrections obtained in steps 1 to 4 to the
measured liquid height.
STEP 6 : Enter table 5A, main capacity table for cargo tank No. 1 Port with the corrected liquid
height of 2734 mm to obtain the volume of liquid at 15 °C.
Volume = 613.965 m3
STEP 7 : Enter table 4 with the liquid temperature of -28 °C to obtain the correction factor for
thermal contraction of the tank material.
STEP 8 : Calculate volume of liquid at the liquid temperature of -28 °C by multiplying the volume
obtained in step 6 and the correction factor obtained in step 7.

EXAMPLE OF CALCULATION
STEP 9 : Obtain volume of vapor at 15 °C by subtracting the volume of liquid, obtained in step 6,
from the total tank capacity at 15 °C
STEP 10 : Enter table 4 with the vapor temperature of -18 °C to obtain the correction factor
for thermal contraction of the tank material.
STEP 11 : Calculate volume of vapor at the vapor temperature of -18 °C by multiplying the volume
obtained in step 9 by the correction factor obtained in step 10.
