___________________1. It describes motion in terms of displacement, velocity and acceleration.

___________________2. It is the study of force in relation to motion.

___________________3. It refers to the location of an object with respect to a reference point or origin.

___________________4. This refers to the straight-line distance between an object’s initial and final positions, with
direction toward the final position.

___________________5. It is the speed in at a particular moment in time.

___________________6. It is the displacement of a body in a specified time interval.

___________________7. This type of collision exists when momentum and kinetic energy are conserved.

___________________8. The idealized motion of a falling object of which gravity is the only force acting on it.

___________________9. An object is called ___ if it is thrown horizontally or at some angle with respect to horizontal.

___________________10. The curve path of a projectile is called _______.

___________________11. The product of force and the time interval on which the force acts on an object is called ___.

___________________12. This quantity is always conserved in all types of collisions.

___________________13. Item no.12 has units of ______________.

___________________14. The impulse of a force is just equal to the change in momentum is statement under the
______________.

___________________15. It refers to a force that resists motion between materials in contact.

___________________16. It refers to the tendency of an object to maintain its state of motion.

___________________17. It is the dot product of force F and displacement d in the direction of the force.
___________________18. The unit for Power is watt, W. one watt is equal to ______________.

___________________19. This energy is represented by U, the energy possessed by a body by virtue of its
configuration.

___________________20. It is the energy due to the configuration and is common in elastic materials such as springs.

Test 2: PROBLEM SOLVING. Answer the following

problems with clear and complete solutions.
(5points each).

1. Projectile motion:
A baseball is hit with a horizontal speed of 25 m/s.
What is its position and velocity after 2 s?

2. Work-Energy Theorem:

A 20-g projectile strikes a mud bank, penetrating a

distance of 6 cm before stopping. Find the stopping
force F if the entrance velocity is 80 m/s.

3. Impulse-Momentum Theory:

A 500-g baseball moves to the left at 20 m/s striking a

bat. The bat is in contact with the ball for 0.002 s, and
it leaves in the opposite direction at 40 m/s. What was
average force on ball?

4. Conservation of Momentum:

A 50 g bullet strikes a 1-kg block, passes all the way

through, then lodges into the 2 kg block. Afterward,
the 1 kg block moves at 1 m/s and the 2 kg block moves
at 2 m/s. What was the entrance velocity of the
bullet?
