COURSE OUTLINE

BBA 305: BUSINESS VALUES AND ETHICS:  Lecture Hours: 45

Lecturer- Dr Bengat Kipyegon.  J (45 Hours)

Purpose of the course: On completion of this unit, the learner will be able to identify with


different organizational values and ethics and their impact in the forming organizational
cultures and practices.

Expected Learning Outcomes

By the end of the course, the learner should be able to;

        i.            Define the meaning of ethics and values in organizational contexts.

      ii.            Demonstrate an understanding of ethical theories and their relevance in


business applications.

    iii.            Identify personal values desirable for business operations.

    iv.            Determine organizational measures key in responding to ethical issues in


business management.

      v.            Appreciate the role of corporate responsibility, citizenship and governance in


reinforcing ethics and values in business operations.

    vi.            Evaluate the relevance of global values in business organizations operating in


regional and local levels.

Course Content

Foundations of ethics and values; Overview of business ethics and values, , Theories of
ethics and their application; Personal values in the workplace; Values and heuristics;
Categories of responses to ethical issues; Corporate responsibility; Corporate citizenship;
Corporate governance; Ethical conformance; Codes of ethics; Standards; Culture; Global
and local values.

Mode of Delivery

The course will be conducted through blended approach, online& face to face lectures,
group-based learning and independent studies.
Course Assessment

Continuous Assessment Tests                                 30%

Final Semester Examination                                   70%

                 Total                                                      100%

Pass mark shall be 40%
