FOLLOWING WORDS: hook a reader, ventriloquist, hoax, exotic, on

A special book.

This story is about James who was a bookworm. He was 17 years old and by that age he had
read about 400 books. So, from what I've said so far, James seems like a simple boy, but this
passion for books that was a little out of the ordinary changed his life one day.
It was a warm spring day. James woke up, had breakfast, and decided to start reading a new
book. But this time he wanted to read a book with an interesting storyline, something which
can hook a reader like him, so he looked through his bookshelf and noticed a title: “The
ventriloquist”. James wondered where he got this book from, then remembered it was a book
with short stories which was on loan from one of his friends a week ago. As he saw the title of
the book, James was sure it would be a book with many comic events, but the quote he saw on
the first page confused him: “The ventriloquist. A book that change lives”. He wanted to
know what these mysterious words meant, so he began to read the book. He began with the
first short story, namely “The ventriloquist and the bookworm”
The book was about a 17 year-old child who was bookworm just like him, who stopped one
day, on his way to the library, in front of a building where a stage was placed. There was a
man who tried to tell a story using two puppets which represented a boy and a girl who met by
chance in a park. The child forgot for a moment about the library and stayed to listen to that
man who was a ventriloquist. After a few minutes in which they made love declarations to
each other, the boy tells the girl: “You are my stairway to heaven. I want to be around you all
the time. I want to have a family and to visit all exotic places in the world. But I want to do all
this with you”. The girl burst into tears when she heard these words and said: Aww, what
euphonious voice do you had when you said these words to me. I don’t know what to say, but
I feel the same thing”, and that day was a special one for both of them.
But as we know, in life there are also moments of sadness after happiness, and the girl
experienced one of these moments the very next day after she met that boy. Exactly the next
day when they met, the boy told the girl that everything had been a hoax, it was just a bet he
made with his friends. They just wanted to see if he could win her heart just by saying to her
nice words. Then the girl burst into tears and said: “So you don't love me.”. And the boy
replied: “I know it had to be just a hoax and from the beginning I only wanted to prove to my
friends that I can win your heart, but believe me that when I met you I felt something I never
felt in my heart.”. Then the girl wiped all her teardrops from her face, and then the two swore
that nothing would separate them.
After the ventriloquist finished telling the story, the boy stood frozen for a moment and then
continued on his way to the library and this is where the story ended. The same thing
happened with James. After reading the story, he froze for a moment, then wondered what life
lesson this story had taught him, namely that love can change a man who is urged to do bad
things by his followers. “Also, love can warn a person that it is time to make a change in his
life. In the case of the character the change means to take care in the future how he chooses
his friends”, said James after a few minutes. Only then did James understand the meaning of
the quote on the front page. This book really changed his life.
