ANIL KUMAR SACHAN, EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR, HONOURED WITH EMINENT

ENGINEER -2015 AWARD BY THE INSTITUTION OF ENGINEERS (India)
The Institution of Engineers (India), Uttarakhand State Centre (UKSC) selected and
honoured Sh. Anil Kumar Sachan, Executive Director & HOI, Institute Drilling Technology,
Dehradun with “The Eminent Engineer Award-2015”. The award to Shri Sachan with other
eminent engineers from Uttarakhand State was presented by Shri Harish Rawat, Hon’ble
Chief Minister, Uttarakhand on 3rd Feb’2016. The Institution of Engineers (India) every year
adjudge and declare eight eminent engineers from Uttarakhand for their outstanding
contribution in the field of engineering. The awards are categorised in two categories, one
for Research / Academician and other for Field Engineers.

Sh. Anil Kumar Sachan is adjudged by penal of juries for eminent engineer award for
his outstanding contribution in the Field of Engineering. Specifically for his expertise in
controlling the Blowout in Oil wells. During his career, he has amassed invaluable
experience in Fire-Fighting & Blowout Control operations, Drilling Technology, Coal Bed
Methane and Materials Management. He worked with several foreign experts for
controlling the Blowout and gained rich experience of controlling Fire/ Blow out in more
than 20 Oil Wells.

Mr. Anil Kumar Sachan, Executive Director

 Mr Anil Kumar Sachan joined Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Limited (ONGC) as Drilling
Engineer in 1980 and completed 35 years of eventful journey rising to the level of
Executive Director in this Maharatna Company. During his career, he has amassed
invaluable experience in Drilling Technology, Fire-Fighting & Blowout Control operations,
 Procurement, Coal Bed Methane, Project Management, Materials Management and
Human Resource Development. He worked with several foreign experts for controlling Oil
Well Fire(s) & Blowout(s) and gained rich experience of controlling more than 20 Oil Well
Fire(s) Blowout(s).

 He hold B.Tech (Mechanical) from Pant Nagar University, M.Tech (Production

Engineering) from B.H.U, Varanasi and Master of Administrative Management from
Jamnalal Bajaj Institute of Management Studies, Mumbai University.

 Mr Sachan is fellow and life member of the Institute of Engineers (India), life member of
Institution of Material Management and Society of Petroleum Engineers, USA. He has
served Dehradun local centre of IE(I) as Honaurary Secretary for two terms 1998-1999 &
2000-2001.

 Mr Sachan is a sports loving person having specific liking in swimming and adventure
sports like white water rafting, water ski-ing, snow ski-ing, para sailing, para gliding and
sky diving.He is a true humanitarian and gives great value to human touch and donated
Blood about a dozen times.

 Mr Sachan is a strong advocator of any green Initiative and strongly believes in Green
Electricity through Solar energy which is abundant in India being a tropical country. He
believes that with thrust on proper utilization of Solar Energy, India can not only be energy
rich but also energy exporting country.

 At present, he is Head of Institute of Drilling Technology at Dehradun dealing with Applied

R&D and Training in Drilling Technology. He has the Vision for IDT to make it an
internationally reputed world class R&D and Training facility centre equipped with state-of-
art Simulator(s), Laboratory Equipment & Instruments and fully functional Rig.
