BEAUTY IS IN THE EYE OF THE BEHOLDER

Introduction:

The phrase “Beauty lies in the eyes if the beholder” as quoted by H.G.Wells is a very
common proverb, literally meaning something which one person finds beautiful or
admirable that may not appeal to another. The definition of beauty is quite vast and
one cannot stick to just one definition of it as it broadly varies from person to
person.

Attention grabbing/Main Body:

Have you ever come across something very beautiful? Something which for others is
just a normal thing? Be it anything? Have you ever noticed how subjective beauty
is?

The phrase basically portrays the phenomenon that the absolute and true form of
beauty lays within the eyes of the beholder, in how someone perceives something
and takes it for. Different people may find different things pleasing contrasting
entirely from someone else’s likes and dislikes hence making the entire concept of
beauty subjective.

One cannot have a concrete meaning to beauty, there are certain set standards of
beauty in the society but they may not be true for everyone in fact beauty standards
are quite absurd to begin with since everything Allah has created be it humans,
animals or nature is beautiful nonetheless.

When often relate beauty to humans and that too specifically facial features but
beauty is not just limited to that, beauty is way more than face it related to a
person’s personality and manners. If we all are familiar about the proverb “All that
Glitters is Not Gold”, then we would be aware that we cannot believe someone by
their appearance. When we are in the light of wisdom outer beauty of a person will
not drive us.What makes a person attractive is the inner beauty.People with inner
beauty are those that love to make peace with everyone, take care of fellow beings
and try to follow the path of justice, beauty exists even in the inanimate objects.
You may find a small flower beautiful or a buildings construction beautiful. It all
eventually falls on the person perceiving their surroundings.
The phrase may also be extended to have more deep meanings. If a person is in a
good mood naturally everything will seem beautiful and admiral to them on the
contrary for someone who had a bad day everything will seem irritating and ugly no
matter how fit it is to the common beauty standards. For an optimistic person who
only looks for good in anything will obviously find everything admirable and for a
critique not everything will be beautiful.

Conclusion:

Any wise person would understand the gravity of this proverb and the truth it
encloses within itself though not everyone would agree with it but then again the
beauty behind the meaning of the proverb lies within the eyes of the beholder and
yet again the beauty of this essay lies within the eyes if the beholder.
