15 steps to
better
productivity
& flow

Hey there! I'm so excited to share this Productivity

Cheatsheet with you. In this guide, I've compiled 15 of my
favorite tips and techniques that I use to enhance my
overall productivity and enter into a state of flow with
whatever I'm working on. I know that this will bring you
some serious value. Let's get to work...

1. VISUALIZE YOUR OUTCOME
Don’t just do work for work’s sake! Know what you want your ultimate outcome to be.
Is it to lose 30 lbs? Earn a million dollars this year? Know it, write it down, throw it on
a vision board, and always keep it within reach. This is so powerful to keep yourself
motivated along the journey and even allow you to formulate a plan of approach.

2. DECLUTTER YOUR WORKSPACE

Your workspace needs to set the scene for your work. Start by organizing your desk to
remove distractions like your phone. By also having a place for your essentials, you will
ensure faster access to things when you need them and less time digging. This includes
things like research materials, pens and papers, water, etc.

3. CREATE ARTIFICIAL DEADLINES

Use Parkinson’s law to set artificial deadlines for yourself and aim to complete your
tasks within that timeframe. The more time we have, the more we are likely to fill
out time with work that doesn’t truly bring additional value. This is one of the most
effective time management hacks!

4. AVOID MULTI-TASKING
Multi-tasking can initially seem like a great idea to get more done, but in reality, it kills
creativity and focus needed for concentrated work. Plus, it makes it a lot harder to reach
a state of flow because your brain take time to focus when you keep switching from
task to task.
5. AUTOMATE TASKS
Thanks to modern-day technology, many tedious, mundane, or dreaded tasks can be
automated. Instead of sweeping, get a Roomba. Tired of changing kitty litter? Get an
automatic litter changer. Automation is a great way to free up time for more important
things.

6. USE THE PARETO PRINCIPLE

Identify which of your tasks would give you the most in return for the time and effort
that you spend on them. The 80/20 rule is one of the best ways to eliminate the
majority of the work that does not bring you as much value as the small amount that
actually does. Aim to focus on that 20%!

7. USE TIMED SESSIONS

If you have a large and varied to-do list, the Pomodoro Technique can help you
crank through projects faster by forcing you to adhere to strict timing. Watching a
timer wind down can spur you to wrap up your current project more quickly, and
spreading a task over two or three Pomodoros can keep you from getting frustrated.

8. FINISH THE HARD STUFF FIRST

The hard stuff is usually what we stress about most. If you do the harder tasks first,
you’ll free your mind of prolonged worry and get everything else done faster. Your
productivity can be hindered by the challenge or size of task in front of you, so it’s
better to get it out of the way.
9. BREAK LARGER PROJECTS INTO SMALLER TASKS
Tackling a big project or a large goal can be overwhelming, but if you break it up into
phases or mini-projects, it becomes much more manageable and less stressful. Aim to
build a wall by laying each brick as well as you can – one at a time!

10. JOURNAL YOUR THOUGHTS

This is one of the best ways to eliminate the noise inside your head. Putting thoughts to
paper will help you silence your mind when you need to enter a state of flow. Start
small, maybe 10 minutes a days, and you’ll gradually begin to see the difference in your
focus.

11. EXERCISE
Exercise releases endorphins and other good chemicals that make you feel good, give
you more energy, and help you think more clearly. This doesn’t have to mean a
punishing session at the gym. It can even mean a walk outside or dancing to your
favorite music. Take advantage of physical activity to channel your stress!

12. TRACK YOUR PROGRESS

Measuring how much progress you have made will not only ensure that you are aware
of where you stand with your deadlines and objectives, but it will also serve as a source
of motivation to keep going when you notice how much you have already achieved.
13. IDENTIFY WORK THAT YOU ENJOY
When you identify activities that peak your interest more than others, you are more
likely to enter a state of flow with them. These often tend to be tasks that are
reasonably challenging and require you to use the skills that you have.

14. MEDITATE
It’s no secret that meditation can help you reduce stress and anxiety, and improves
mood and sleep. Incorporating this into your life can help you focus without distraction
or emotional distress. Initially, it can be hard to quiet your mind, but once you get better
at it, you’ll begin to eliminate your mental distractions.

15. GET ENOUGH REST

Insufficient sleep leads to mistakes, clumsiness, radical behavior, tardiness, brain
fog, poor decision-making, and forgetfulness. Make sure to get enough rest so that
you can function at your very best when the occasion calls for it. Listening to your
body if it’s asking for rest will be one of the most effective ways to avoid burnout.
