Instructions for ANOVA in SAS

1. Access through welcome.oda.sas.com introducing your username and password and

click on SAS Studio

2. In “Archivos y carpetas del servidor” (in English “Files and folders of the server”; I have
a Spanish configuration, so you might have a different one, depending on your
country) in your left-side part of the canvas create your folder and name it (e.g., “test”
or “Market Research”), this is the where you’ll upload all your files for the practice in
Market research. If you continue using SAS for other subjects and studies, the
recommendation is to create a new folder with a different name.

3. Prepare a file in Excel and load it to SAS:

4. Double click on the file you’ve just uploaded to your folder and you’ll see the “raw”
information, the way it is collected by the system:

5. Press the button “run” (a running guy), it means “execute”, so that the file is readable
by SAS. Check in the tab “Datos de Salida” whether the data are those you indicated
your Excel:
6. Go to Tasks (on the left-side panel) and select “Modelos lineales”
7. For one-way ANOVA select “ANOVA de un factor” (the 1st option in Linear models) and
double-click on it

8. Select the file “Import” through the grid of “DATOS” (it’s in the bottom of all options
that open, inside “WORK” as shown in the picture):
9. Indicate the variables for dependent and independent role of your model:

10. Execute the model through the “run” icon and interpret the results shown in the table
(for 95% of confidential level: if the p-value is below 0,05  reject the H0, if it is over
0,05 then you cannot reject the H0; for 99% of confidential level the reasoning is similar
but the critical value is 0,01).
11. For ANOVA with blocks or n-way ANOVA you must use the option of ANOVA
multifunctional (the 3d option in linear models). Charge previously your Excel file in
“Archivos..” the same way you did for one-way ANOVA and execute (run) it in SAS so
that it would be readable. It’ll be names as Import 1 in SAS, charge it in ANOVA
multifactorial through the grid similar to what you did previously and assign the roles of
the variables as dependent and independent (factors). In this example I use 3 factors.

12. Set the model indicating the relationship among the factors which effect you analyse.
For ANOVA with Blocks you will only add the factors to the model and for n-way ANOVA
you will add them and also cross them by pairs (this way you’ll be able to analyse the
effect of interactions). Then execute the model (press the icon of a running guy).
Interpret the results the same way you did for one-way ANOVA.
