Double knitting: 22 stitches and 30 rows to 10 cm. (4 inches) on a 4 mm (US 6) needle.
4-ply: 28 stitches and 36 rows to 10 cm. (4 inches) on a 3 1/4 mm (US 3)needle.

*The pattern is written using the terms ‘larger’ and ‘smaller’ needles. For each size two pairs of needles are given, use
the larger and smaller of these as stated in pattern.

NB: If preferred you can cast on the frill stitches onto a circular needle as there are so many. It is possible to squash
them on straight needles if you don’t like circulars as they are halved and then halved again over the first two rows.

Angel Top
Using larger needles and CC cast
on 445sts and work frill edging as
follows:
Row 1 (CC): K1, * K2, slip first
stitch over second; rep from * to
end
Break CC. Using MC only
continue as follows:

You now have 112sts.
Continue in st-st for 8 rows.
Joining in contrast colour, work

smaller needles knit across 12sts of
left back, pick up and knit 12sts

back from holder.
Knit 5 rows, working a further
buttonhole on the second of these
rows. Cast off.
Making up
Sew sleeves in place. Sew sleeve
and side seams. Sew buttonband
behind buttonhole band. If desired
lightly elasticate sleeves using
doubled shirring elastic through
the 1x1 rib. Sew on buttons.
Pants
Front
Leg One
Using CC and larger needles, cast
on 77sts and work the 2 rows of
frill as for top, joining in MC on
2nd row and breaking CC (20sts)
Continue in st-st for 4 rows. Break
yarn.
Leg Two
Work as leg one, but don’t break
yarn.
K across leg two, turn and cast on
16sts, turn and knit across leg one
(56sts)***
Continue in st-st for 13 rows.
Joining in CC work row one of
motif chart four times. Continue
for 10 rows until all 11 rows of
motif have been worked. Break
CC and continue in MC only.
Continue in st-st for 9 rows.

Change to smaller needles and
work 14 rows in 1x1 rib. Cast off
in rib.
Back
Frills (make 5)
Using CC and larger needles cast
on 221sts and work the two rows
of edging as for top front, breaking
CC after first row and using MC
for second row. Break yarn. (56sts)
Leave the 5 frills on spare needles.
Main Pants
Work as front of pants to ***
Continue in st-st for 3 rows.
With right side of work facing,
take a frill, hold in front of work,
and knit through first stitches off
each needle. Continue in this way
across the row until all stitches are
knitted and the frill is joined to the
pants back.
Continue in st-st for 5 rows.
Repeat the last 6 rows four more
times so all 5 frills are joined.
Change to smaller needles and
work 14 rows in 1x1 rib. Cast off
in rib.
Making up
Sew side seams. Sew crotch and
leg seams. Join elastic in a circle to
fit the waistband, fold over the
waistband and sew in place.
Hat
Using CC and larger needles cast
on 333sts and work 2 rows of frill
edging as for top front, changing to
MC on row 2 and breaking CC
(84sts)
Change to smaller needles and
work 6 rows in 1x1 rib.
Change to larger needles continue
in st-st for 2 rows.

motif chart 6 times. Work the needle, pick up and knit 8sts down
remaining 10 rows of the chart so the instep, and knit across the 9sts
