Headline
The Headline is conventionally the largest text on the page and indicates the purpose of the
article. It can often be a “Pull quote” to intrigue the audience. It is designed to grab the
audience's attention and it will often also anchor the meaning of the main image. The
headline of the image says “Passing on the torch”. This is because Scarlett Johanson is
leaving the MCU where she played the character Black Widow and Florence Pugh is now
replacing her as Yelaner Balova who will be the next Black Widow and “Passing on the
torch” means to give one's job and duties. The double page spread headline is
conventionally the largest text on the page and indicates the purpose of the article.

Main Image
The main image conventionally takes up one of two pages and it might bleed across the
centrefold. The main image may use direct address to engage the audience and the mise en
scene will be visually interesting and create meaning for the audience. The main image is a
two shot of Scarlett Johanson and Florence Pugh who are the main stars of the Black Widow
film. They use a direct address in the image because it enhances the interest of the
audience as it appears as though they are looking directly at them, which is engaging. The
mise en scene is visually interesting and signifies the content for the page. The background
that they are in is red with low key lighting and because they are both wearing white shirts it
stands out more.

Main body text

The main body text is the body of the text that makes up the article and it is in the smallest
fond. The main body text in my double page spread is conventionally in the smallest font and
makes up the article. It is laid out in columns because it is easier to read, it allows
printers to draw attention to more important articles by making columns larger. It
provides structure to the page and separates the articles in a way that naturally
catches the eye

By line
The by line is the credits to the writer and the photographer of the article. It is usually
positioned near the headline or end of the article. The by line in my double page spread is
conventionally positioned near the headline or end of the article. The credits conventionally
to the writer of the article who is Chris Hewitt and to the photographer Ricky Middlesworth.
The font size of the by line is small so it doesn’t take the reader's attention from the main
image or the standfirst

Secondary images
The Secondary images are images that give more information than the main image and are
visually appealing to the audience . The secondary images are pictures from the Black
Widow movie which would be appealing to the audience because they get a new look at the
film which is highly anticipated and because the readers are able figure out what the film will
be about and will be able to create theories about what happened
Drop cap
The drop cap is the first letter of the article which is enlarged and dropped down into the
main body text. It indicates the beginning of the article. The drop cap is conventionally the
first letter of the article which is enlarged and dropped down into the main body text. It is also
used to help the audience indicate the beginning of the article. The drop cap on my double
page spread is the letter T and it is conventional because the large and its dropped into the
main body text making it the first letter of the article which helps show the audience the
beginning of the article

Stand first
The stand first is like an introduction to the article and is either positioned under the headline
or in the first paragraph of the article conventionally smaller than head line text but larger
than the main body text. The stand first is smaller than head line text but it is larger than the
main body text which is conventional. It is also positioned towards the right side of the page
and it is not in the first paragraph of the article which isn’t conventional. The stand first says
“The long awaited Black Widow sees Scarlett Johanson saying goodbye to the MCU, and
Florence Pugh storming in. We get them together to talk mentoring, envelope, pushing and
kicking ass`.This intrigues the audience because it gives them information about the article.
Also, it is in a more formal font to be more informative in tone, it also stands out in the
background because the font colour is white and the background is red with low key lighting

Pull quote
The pull quote is a quote from the article that is repeated in a larger font to grab and make
the audience want to read the article. The pull quote from the article that is repeated in a
larger font which is conventional and is used to grab and make the audience want to read
the article. The pull quote says “It was rock n roll and in your face”. This intrigues audiences
because the phrase “In your face” sounds exciting and because they don’t know exactly
what the article is about it creates an enigma. Also the way the words “rock N roll” are made
to stand out in red makes it like a buzzword
House style
The house style is the brand style of the magazine which includes elements of the style of
language, font layout. The house style. The colour scheme used in the double page spread is
black and red because they are the black widows signature colours. The text is simple and
put into columns to appeal to a younger audience because younger audiences aren’t as
concerned about what the text looks like compared to older audiences. Also the the images
are meant to be the main focus because they are the biggest thing on the page and they
stand out more because of the smaller and simpler text which is conventional for a film
magazine
