1. What is Curriculum?
Curriculum is a total guided learning experience designed to facilitate learning for
establishing quality relationship between what is learnt and what operates
outside the school. It is the knowledge and skills that students are expected to
learn as they progress through our social system. It is a standard-based sequence
of planned experiences where in content and applied learning skills. Curriculum is
the central guide for all educations as to what is essential for teaching and
learning, so that every student has access to rigorous academic experience. It
must include the necessary goals, methods, materials and assessments to
effectively support instruction and learning.
2. How does each theoretical viewpoint differ from one another? Explain a to d.
A. Curriculum as Transmission of knowledge- it is the process by which the
information delivered or transmitted to students by the most effective
way.
B. Curriculum as End Products- it is dependent on the setting of the
behavioral objectives as well as it influenced by the development of our
management thinking and practice.
C. Curriculum as a Process- curriculum as what actually happens in the
classroom and what things are done to prepare. Its driven by general
principles and focuses on meaning making.
D. Curriculum as Praxis- model of curriculum theory and practice benefits
from human well-being and emancipation of the human spirit. The actions
put forward in this model is informed and committed. This model of
curriculum theory and practice looks to individuals but also pays attention
to a collective understanding, there is commitment towards the
exploration of educators’ values and practices. With that all said, praxis is
said to not put enough emphasis on context.
3. Which of the Philosophies are like in some ways? Different in some aspects?
The philosophies that are like in some ways but different in some aspects are
curriculum as a product and praxis. Praxis is about the dynamic interaction of
teachers, while product this is the interactions of the principal as the curriculum
leader in school. They have the same interaction, the interaction of teachers to
the students and principal to the teachers.
4. Why should I take history, philosophy, psychology or even PE subjects in College?
I should take history, philosophy, psychology or even PE subject in college
because they are the subjects that have contributions in our life, that can help us
to think carefully. To have a knowledge in different aspects that can help me to
think and to move. How I can I care about myself. I should take history because
it enables us to develop better understanding of the world in which I live. I can
learn from mistake of what happened in the past. I can develop an understanding
of the world. Philosophy helps to develops our writing, reading, reasoning,
rethinking , adapting, learning, organizing and dialogue skills. It helps us to
enhance our ability to solve problems, our communication skills, our persuasive
powers and or writing skills. Psychology, this subject helps me to understand
human behavior and mental processes and allow you to better understand how I
think act and feel. PE subjects, help me aware about my health. This can lead to
improved attainment in all other academic subject. It educates me in positive
benefits of exercise and allows them to understand how good it can make them
feel. That’s the reason why I should take this subjects.
5. Why is that there is K-12 and mother tongue-base curriculum being implemented
by the Department of Education.
There is a k-12 and mother tongue-base curriculum being implemented by the
Department of Education it is because K to 12 give the students enough years to
master basic academic skills and participate in co-curricular activities. The
students will gain more knowledge and experience that will be essential in the
future. To provide sufficient time for mastery of concept and skills to develop
lifelong learners. As a student’s who have lack to financial needs, in college time
we can work while studying because we are in the right age. As a subject mother
tongue- base it focuses on the development of speaking, reading and writing of
grade 1 to 3. The purpose of it is to develop appropriate cognitive and reasoning
skills enabling children to operate equally in different languages starting in
mother tongue.
