Multiplexing between the notebook’s and docking bay’s
RJ-45 connectors eliminates a duplicate PHY transceiver
and Ethernet controller in the docking bay. The FSAL200, a Overloading a graphics chip with additional video outputs
quad SPDT LAN switch, routes 10/100 Ethernet signals. can cause the graphics chip to fail or cause the video image
to be unclear or ghosted. Using a quad SPDT video switch
to add alternative video outputs ensures signal integrity.
These switches multiplex video signals to selected outputs
isolating the graphics chip from the unselected output’s load.
