ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES


The Environment Specialist in the Contractor’s organization will have the specific responsibility to monitor the compliance of
Environmental Monitoring & management Plan and Social Requirements of this Project. His responsibilities include:
 Advising site management on the following:
o Legal requirements affecting environmental and social conditions of the workers.
o Provision and use of safe work practices in accordance with environmental legislation.
o Potential environmental and Health & Safety hazards on new contract before work start and on the site
safety organization.
o Methods of safe working arising from new developments/activity.
o Changes in legislation and safe codes of practices.
o Other related health and safety issues occurred in the project.
 Participate in Environment & social and HSE audits conducted by IFC-World Bank and Asian Development Bank and
Environment Protection Agencies (EPAs)
 Support the HSE Manager and team with planning, coordinating and implementing of effective HSE policies, guidelines
and procedures to ensure that the department objectives.
 Attend pre-job, planning and client meetings as required on HSE related matters
 Implementing plans and procedures at project to minimize impacts on soil, water and air
 Complying with client’s World Bank and EPAs plans and Environmental Monitoring & Management Plans (EMMPs) to
monitor adverse environmental effects.
 Develop monitoring program for noise, air, and land and water pollution.
 Controlling env. spills and implementation of waste management plan at site as per ESIA, IFC and ADB guidelines.
 Revise and make up to date all health safety documents and procedures as required
 Monitoring waste management as per plans and procedures produces by EPCC assigned by clients and Environmental
protection agency (EPAs) by collection, segregation and disposal.
 Implementation of Project ESMP as per requirements by IFC/ADB and EPAs requirements.
 Supervising HSE duties at site and examining incidents and preparation of HSE reports.
 Preparation of daily, weekly, and monthly HSE reports and submission to the client (Mira Power Ltd.)
 Ensure the implementation of HSE system according to ISO standard requirements and complying with Pakistan
Environmental Protection Act (PEPA), 1997 & IEE/EIA regulations and other requirements.
 Assist in managing and preparing HSE plans and procedures and OHSE trainings tackle issues.
 Attend daily meeting with Client on site OHS&E compliance.
 Monitor inspections calendar implementation and follow-up action items generated from inspections
