SECTION – A [5 x 1 = 5]

1. In the given figure, O is the centre of a circle, AB is a chord, and AT is the tangent at
A. If ∠AOB = 100°, then calculate ∠BAT.

2. Find the number of solid spheres, each of diameter 6 cm, that could be moulded to
form a solid metallic cylinder of height 45 cm and diameter 4 cm.
3. The volume and surface area of a solid hemisphere are numerically equal. What is the
diameter of the hemisphere?

4. In a continuous frequency distribution, the median of the data is 21. If each
observation is increased by 5, then find the new median.
5. The following table shows the sale of shoes in a store for one month. Find the mode
of the following data.

SECTION – B [4 x 2 = 8]

6. Two tangent TP and TQ are drawn to a circle with centre O from an external point T.
Prove that ∠PTQ=2∠OPQ.

7. From a solid cylinder whose height is 2.4 cm and diameter 1.4 cm, a conical cavity of
the same height and same diameter is hollowed out. Find the total surface area of the
remaining solid to the nearest sq. cm.
8. A solid is in the shape of a cone standing on a hemisphere with both their radii being
equal to 1 cm and the height of the cone is equal to its radius. Find the volume of the
solid in terms of π.
9. A survey was conducted by a group of students as a part of their environment
awareness programme, in which they collected the following data regarding the
number of plants in 20 houses in a locality. Find the mean number of plants per house.

No. of plants 0-2 2-4 4-6 6-8 8-10 10-12 12-14

No. of houses 1 2 1 5 6 2 3

Which method will you use for finding the mean, and why?

SECTION – C [3 x 3 = 9]

10. A triangle ABC is drawn to circumscribe a circle of radius 4 cm such that the
segments BD and DC into which BC is divided by the point of contact D are of
lengths 8 cm and 6 cm respectively. Find the sides AB and AC.

11. A solid iron pole consists of a cylinder of height 220 cm and base diameter of 24 cm,
which is surmounted by another cylinder of height 60 cm and radius 8 cm. Find the
mass of the pole, given that 1 cm3 of iron has approximately 8g mass. (Use π = 3.14)

13. From a window, h metres high above the ground, of a house in a street, the angles of
elevation and depression of the top and the foot of another house on the opposite side
of the street are α and β respectively. Show that the height of the opposite house is
h(1+tanα.cotβ) metres.

14. In the figure given below, ABCD is a quadrilateral such that ∠D = 90°. A circle
C(O,r) touches the sides AB, BC, CD, and DA at P, Q, R, and S respectively. If
BC=40cm, CD=25cm and BP=28cm, find r.
