The Database Management System (DBMS) is software that enables the users to
define, create, maintain and control access to the database. It is software that interacts
with the user’s applications programs and its database. Meanwhile, an information
retrieval system is a system that involved the activity that the systems obtain the
information. The obtaining information action needs the information from its resources.
The DBMS has a function that can be differentiated from the information retrieval
system. The DBMS has the ability to store, update and retrieve the data. This is the
main function of the DBMS because the database can be used if there is any record is
being stored in the database. The record needs to be retrieved first, then it can be
changed by the database administrator as it will be the record has been updated. The
DBMS will protect the structure of the data structure. Another function of the DBMS
is the concurrency control services. Database Management System must ensure that the
database is updated correctly because the database can be used by many multiple users.
The DMS enables many users to access the data concurrently. The more people access
the data, the greater the risk of a data security breach. Generally, companies invest a lot
of time, effort and money to ensure the proper use of their data. However, this is not
always as expected. With a DBMS, organizations can ensure better enforcement of
privacy policies and data security, which allows them to improve overall data security.

doesn’t know what will happen to the computer and the data may be lost.
