Based on your prior knowledge, answer the following questions:

a. What is Science, Technology, and Society?

Science , Technology, and Society is an interdisciplinary field that studies the conditions
under which the production, distribution and utilization of scientific knowledge and technological
systems occur; the consequences of these activities upon different groups of people

b. How is the science, technology and, society connected to each other? Cite at least 3
examples.
1. Science and technology are dependent on each other and people on the society utilize
and create more knowledge from science and used it to form new technology. This situation
makes them connected. Because of science we wouldn’t know those inventions that the people
can do to help this society. Although there are some part of the world who have too much hi-tech
in terms of their gadgets, vehicles or any things that are far from my knowledge, I believe that
those things will be invented by some of our local if he/she study more about science.
2. Science assists societies to develop a new and better understanding about the concepts
and processes of technology. For example, before having a doctor in this society, too much
processes or level of education they’ve been before to be what they are now to help the people
especially the Covid-19 crisis that we’ve been experiencing. Those doctors who are helping us in
this pandemic are professional in terms of their fields. With the help of science, they can operate
those who have diseases that need an operation. There are some doctors too, who do research
to form a medicine that can help us to become much better and stronger than before. Too much
things that the doctors can do in this society, and through the help of science and technology,
whereas the scientists invented, helped the doctors to do their works easier. As a human being
who are part in this society, I can say that one of the reason that makes science, technology, and
society connected is through interacting. For example, human is the one who invented computer,
mobile phones, television, radio or any gadgets that we have right now. We also used social
media nowadays with the help of some channel of communication such as Facebook, Whatsapp,
Viber, Twitter or any app that can help us to be stay connected to our friends or loved one. All of
this wouldn’t happen without the knowledge of those inventors. They got that knowledge through
science and form a new thing that can makes our life easier.
3. Another situation that makes science, technology, and society become connected with
each other is about the climate change. People in the society, locally or globally are experiencing
climate change. Because of this problem, they are studying more how they can solve it. Some are
studying more about it and we all know that they can find it through studying science. Sometimes
they can prevent more damages of some natural disaster through the help of some technology
such as “deep-ocean tsunami detection buoy” that can detect the possibilities of having a
tsunami, and “ weather surveillance radar” that can detect and track typhoons. These are just
only one of those device/technology that can help the society to prevent big damages and it’s
through science.
 c. Create a concept map showing the relationship of Science, Technology, and Society in our
lives.
