About Lex
Familia India

Lex Familia, as the name

suggests, is an endeavour to
create a Family of Lawyers. Our
vision is to create an alliance
of senior practitioners and
young legal minds. We strongly
believe in “learning together
and growing together”. With
this idea of togetherness, we
have associated with senior
practitioners to share their
learnings and experience with
young legal minds.
We ‘share’ and we ‘care’ – with
this motto we look forward to
‘share’ the knowledge which
benefits the students to enter
the corporate world with much
more preparedness, knowledge
and confidence; and during the
process we also ‘care’ to guide
freshers on a path suitable for
them in a structured manner
with our continuous mentorship
available to them.
At LFI, we educate young
lawyers in a fashion that is
completely distinctive. Our
primary aim is to equip budding

WHAT MAKES LFI

DIFFERENT

Personal one on one interaction with senior practitioners:

Though we offer workshops designed around practice areas, the students
also benefit from personal interaction with senior practitioners on real time
basis.

We share ‘experience’:
The practitioners associated with us not only offer practical insights into
their areas of laws but also share their experience of transactions and work
in law firms which helps student in having an indicative idea about a firm’s
environment.

Internships or Workshops:
Obviously, the experience a student may avail while interning at a law firm
is incomparable provided such internship is for a considerable period and
there is continuity in workflow. However, such sort of experience is possible
only in an utopian world; and unfortunately, the internship scenario in Indian
law firms is not idealistic. Further, during the COVID period most of the
internships are online thereby limiting the scope of students to interact
with practitioners in a physical space. The internships, in this day and age,
do not serve the purpose from a students’ perspective limiting their scope to
learn about the realities of workspace environment. Also, with the increase in
number of colleges and students and increased competition, it is not easy for
a student to apply and get a favourable response from these firms. Thereby,
increasing the level of disparity between a qualified student in comparison
to a student who has easy access to firms due to multiple reasons. We at
our workshops try to bridge that gap by providing the opportunity to all the
students to learn more than what a student could have gathered during their
internships. The workshops designed by us specifically the ‘Master Workshop’
which is for an extensive period of one year will not only provide a student
an overall exposure of varied practice areas but it will also help them in
understanding the corporate/ law firm environment due to association with
our senior practitioners and the workshop.

LFI’S STUDENTS TESTIMONIALS

Our students have shared their experience at LFI by way of testimoials
on different social platforms. Few of them are listed below for your
reference. If you wish to speak with them, you could connect with them
on LinkedIn.

Piyush Kaushal
O.P. Jindal Global Law School

The securities and corporate laws workshops are a must for anyone
interested in the corporate realm of law. The workshops helped me
bag third position at the NLIU-Trilegal Summit, 2021 and a paralegal
opportunity at Saraf and Partners. Mr. Narayan Kedia and Mr. Saswat
Mohanty bring with them a lot of experience as practitioners and have
designed their classes in such a way that you can understand every
concept without prior exposure. The classes are very interactive and
lively discussions are a given in every class you attend. The teachers
break down complex details into small chunks and seamlessly connect
them to each other.
Additionally, I was guided by both teachers on how to improve my CV and
also had mock interviews and group discussion with them to prepare for
internship and placement opportunities. Narayan sir personally took the
time to review research paper on “Special Purpose Acquisition Companies”
prepared by me and Apoorva Tyagi (another student I interacted with
during the workshop) over multiple Zoom calls and Narayan sir and
Saswat sir saw my summit presentation and gave me pointers on how to
make it better. It was because of their constant guidance that I and
Apoorva secured 3rd place at the NLIU-Trilegal Summit on Corporate
and Commercial Laws. I am currently working as a paralegal in the
capital markets team at Saraf and Partners and couldn’t have landed
that position without the reference of my mentors at the workshop, and
knowledge and the soft skills I acquired at LFI. If you are interested
in securities and corporate laws and deeper understanding of practice
areas or want to see what passion for teaching looks like, go attend the
workshops organised at LFI.

Sarjana Das
Symbiosis Law School, Pune

Khaitan & Co. has recently offered me the role of Associate with their
Capital Markets team which would not have been possible if not for
training and mentorship at LFI. Lex Familia has been instrumental to
my journey of practical learning through industry experts like Narayan
Sir and Saswat Sir whose Securities and Investment laws workshop and
Corporate Law course have helped me gain in depth knowledge of laws
as well understand industry practices through the live sessions. Both of
them are not just knowledgeable professionals but are also extremely
approachable mentors who always guide you in the best possible manner.
The sessions and consistent guidance were helpful to secure job offers
from both Khaitan & Co., and ICICI Bank.

Rainika Malhotra
O.P. Jindal Global Law School

Being taught by practitioners truly enhances the standard learning

process. I was fortunate enough to be part of both the Corporate Law
and Securities & Investment Law Workshops, where we not only got
an excellent induction to the basic concepts surrounding Corporate &
Securities Law but insights about the actual market practices as well.
The sessions were informative, interactive and thoughtfully structured,
ultimately outputting a highly educational experience. In addition to
the workshops, we were individually guided and advised by Mr. Kedia
and Mr. Mohanty wherein we got an opportunity to discuss over our
respective CVs and career goals, with active mentorship on academic
endeavours, prospective internship and work opportunities. Through
this constant valued support and the knowledge gained underway the
workshops, I recently got an opportunity to work as a paralegal at Saraf
and Partners in the capital markets team. I am truly thankful to my
mentors for making this possible for me, for their time and effort
spent on educating and refining me to be field ready. To anyone out
there, the workshops organised by LFI mentors are without a doubt
#finalyearstudentapproved
26 | LEX FAMILIA INDIA

Apoorva Tyagi
Symbiosis Law School, Noida

As a third-year law student who had never interned at a corporate law

firm, I had little to no familiarity with corporate laws at the time of
enrolling in the certificate courses offered by LFI. As a paralegal in the
capital markets team at Saraf and Partners and the second runner up at
the Summit on Corporate and Commercial Laws organised by Trilegal and
NLIU, I can confidently attribute my achievements to the knowledge
shared in the course of the workshops, not only in the academic sphere
but also in terms of development of soft skills by way of one on one
mentoring, interview and GD preparation, CV writing assistance and
other skills which came naturally from interacting regularly with the
top practitioners of the industry who were conducting the workshops.
The real time help and constant support offered by the both the mentors
at LFI truly enhanced the already brilliant learning experience and I
would highly recommend the same to anyone looking to improve their
understanding of the field.

Aditi Khandelwal
O.P. Jindal Global Law School

The courses and the mentorship offered by Lex Familia India have
helped me streamline my legal profession tremendously. The courses
have not only helped me build a solid knowledge base in Companies Law
and Capital Markets but have also helped me secure a couple of tier-1
corporate internships (including AZB & Partners, Khaitan & Co. and J.
Sagar Associates) on my own. The best part about the courses/workshop
is that all the sessions are quite interactive and we as law students are
taught the actual work that we are supposed to do as an associate in the
law firm (which I bet no law college teaches you). It’s been more than a
year since I have associated myself with Lex Familia India and trust me
it was the best decision that I have ever made in my entire life till date.
27 | LEX FAMILIA INDIA

Despite having busy schedules, both Narayan Sir and Saswat Sir have
always been there for me as my back-support and have stood by me
through thick and thin. They have never let me give up and always keep
motivating me and have made me realize that everything is possible to
achieve if you are consistent and determinant. I would like to tell all
the interested students/professionals planning to join courses offered
by Lex Familia India that it’s not just a course you will be doing to get
an in-depth knowledge in the subject (+ certificate) but you’ll also be
getting the 24/7 guidance, support and mentorship of two of the best
mentors (legal professionals) that anyone could wish to have. I have
no words to express my gratitude to Narayan Sir and Saswat Sir for
always being there for me. Nonetheless, I would like to thank them and
give them 100% credit for all the success (a long way to go though) that
I have achieved in this past one year.

Ajay Poddar
Amity Law School, Noida

As a 5thyear law student, I was fortunate enough to attend both the

Corporate Law and Securities and Investment Law Workshops right
before graduating, which equipped me with the theoretical and practical
knowledge needed to land opportunities at reputed organisation such as
Aditya Birla Group, where I recently got placed. I can say with absolute
confidence that my learning from the workshops contributed greatly to
my understanding of the law and the opportunities that stemmed from
the same.

Also, the attitude or perception I had about legal space prior to enrolling
for these workshops was completely different from reality. Apart from
focusing on practical aspects, the mentors at LFI take efforts to make
you understand reality and become cognizant of it and help you prepare
well for it.

I highly recommend the securities and corporate law workshops organised

by LFIto anyone looking to prepare well for their future in the field.
28 | LEX FAMILIA INDIA

Kartik Arya
O.P. Jindal Global Law School

Being part of Lex Familia is not just about the subject or field of
practice. Narayan sir and Saswat sir take a personal interest in ensuring
that each student fully grasp the topic being covered. It has been a
privilege to be a part of Lex Familia because of the overall development
it provides. Having attended their workshops has helped me learn about
the practical aspects of capital markets. Through Narayan sir and
Saswat sir’s guidance, I’ve managed to attain an internship at Shardul
Amarchand Mangaldas & Co. with their capital markets team.

Shreya Mehta
Symbiosis Law School, Pune

I have been associated with LFI’s workshops since October, 2020. Since
then, I have completed workshop on Companies laws and Capital Markets
& Securities Laws conducted by Narayan sir and Saswat sir.

Their guidance and knowledge shared in these workshops have immensely

helped me understanding and analysing theseareas of laws better. The
practical lessons that I have gained in these workshops have helped me
perform better at many interviews and have also helped me in landing a
job at Aarti Industries.

Narayan sir and Saswat sir really takes the time and patience to explain
all the aspects covered in these workshops in detail, along with the
relevant practical examples and are always there to mentor their
students.
29 | LEX FAMILIA INDIA

Aaj Sikri
O.P. Jindal Global Law School

I’ve had the privilege to be taught by both Mr. Kedia and Mr. Mohanty.
Enrolling for their workshops separately has to be the best decision I’ve
took professionally. The output one gets is not just limited to theoretical
knowledge but due to their experience it extends to valuable practical
knowledge. They are not just passionate about teaching but they also
make sure that we are guided towards the right paths in our professional
career. For instance, they have helped me in securing internships at
tier-1 law firms such as Saraf & Partners and S&R Associates. They
have also helped me in drafting CV and writing articles, etc. They are
very approachable and always take time out of their busy schedules to
give us 1 on 1 mentorship sessions. I’ll be forever grateful to them.

Gunjeet Singh
O.P. Jindal Global Law School

I opted for an elective on Securities Regulations in my college and it was

then that I developed interest in studying Capital Markets. However,
the elective in college only briefly touched infinitesimal aspects of vast
penumbra of public offerings.

Piyush Kaushal, a friend of mine, who too benefitted from their workshops
and has an in-depth knowledge in this space recommended me to join
LFI and there workshops.

Besides extremely informative and interactive sessions, it is the efforts

of both Mr. Kedia and Mr. Mohanty that they invest in each and every
student which is applaudable.

In legal profession, one rarely finds mentors who work in order to teach
and train freshers. In the initial days of the workshop every student
enrolled was spoon fed. By spoon feeding, I in no ways mean that we are
not tested analytically. The workshop is highly technical, and it requires
active participation from our end.
30 | LEX FAMILIA INDIA

I was a student whose basics were weak, it is Mr. Kedia and Mr. Mohanty’s
efforts that I learnt the nuances of Capital Markets with great ease.

Their efforts were not limited to teach me the academic part of the
practice area. They went out of their way and helped me to grab an
internship at Saraf and Partners. The internship experience at Saraf
and Partners was one of a kind as everyone at the firm was amazed to
see the understanding of the subject and skills of the interns who were
associated with LFI. I am heartful and glad that I joined LFI.

Vibhasa
O.P. Jindal Global Law School

In my second year of law school, I completed the Capital Markets and

Corporate Law workshops with LFI and my experience without a modicum
of hesitation has been of constant learning and growth. Starting from the
basics to the intricacies of public equity filings of Companies, we learnt
them all, all done through well structured and detailed sessions. The
courses were extremely fulfilling and thus stand as a great opportunity
for any law aspirant interested in the securities’ or corporate law field.

Mainak
Amity Law School, Kolkata

I have attended the Company law course as well as the Securities law
course and I can confidently say that I learned a lot. The sessions were
highly interactive, practical and the conceptual clarity I received was
impressive. What is unique about Lex Familia is that you get to learn
and discuss together not just about the topics in the course but also
regarding the latest developments in the law. Apart from being mentored
by the speakers, I also had a good peer group which pushed me to
be a better professional. A combination of all these aspects helped in
bagging an internship at Saraf & Partners.
