Definition
Recruitment is the process of identifying the need for a new employee, defining
the job to be filled and the person required to fill it, attracting suitable candidates,
and selecting the best person for the job. In short it is the process of finding the
most suitable candidate for a job
Process of Recruitment
Identification - Sohan
The process of identification involves that the business should realize that it needs a new employee because of a change in its internal
factor.
- Business or firm should identify the role of the employee, job title and the responsibilities of the vacant position
- Business or firm should set a list of guidelines or requirements expected from the new employee, like skill required to do the
job, necessary qualifications and required experience in field.
- Business should also decided whether the recruitment process should be conducted internally or externally
- Internal recruitment is the process of filling vacancies within a business from its existing workforce.
- External recruitment is the process of hiring employees from outside the organization.

To find the best applicants, businesses make a job advert: communicating the job
description and person specification to inform potential candidates. The job advert
should be placed so that it reaches its target audience. The business can decide
to process the applications externally: hire a recruitment agency to handle the
application process for them.

Selection
The selection process begins with the HR manager checking and shortlisting the
CV’s received in order to identify suitable candidates.

One of the most common selection processes is Interviews which are conducted
by the employer to the employee

Testing is another process where the employer examines the employee through
various forms of tests

References are statements about an applicant from an independent source such


as the previous employer
