Conclusion

The use of illustrations in children's books is the one permanent feature of the genre. It is well
recognised that images might interfere with the development of some parts of reading abilities in
young children. However, they may also have a supporting role in other ways. The problem is
not straightforward since what is deemed unsupportive in one method to teaching reading may be
considered supportive in another approach to teaching reading. It is taken into consideration
whether and when visual aids can be useful.

Activity 2

 Grade of the students

7th

 Objective/s of the activity

Teaching reading skills to the students

 Non-book materials used

Movies

 Execution of the activity

I'll show them a brief scene from "Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (2001)" and ask them
to rewrite the screenplay based on what they've heard and seen in the movie. Alternately, I'll
have them read a scene from the novel "Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone," which they may
already be familiar with, and then, in groups, have them write a screenplay for what that
moment may look and sound like on the big screen.

 Conclusion

As we all know, watching a movie is a great way to learn new things. Teaching kids how to
"read" a movie is not a tough task to do. All that is required of teachers is an understanding of
how movies communicate and how pupils interpret what they see and hear on the screen. For
the second time, media has shown to be an effective teaching tool—one that is made even
more effective by individuals who understand how to delve deeper into its underlying
meanings.
