Factory 'ayout an important decision as it represents long-term commitment, An ideal factory layout shou! provide the optimum relationship among output, floor area and manufacturing process facilitates the production process, minimizes material handling, time and cost, and allows flexibility of operations, easy production flow, makes economic use of the building, promotes effective utilization of manpower, and provides for employee's convenience safety, comfort at work, maximum exposure to natural light and ventilation. {t is also important because it affects and protesses labour efficiency, supervision and control, use of space and the flow of materi expansion possibili jesete. An efficient factory layout is one that can be instrumental in achieving the following objectives: * Proper and efficient utilization of available floor space + To.esure that work proceeds from one point to another point without any delay © Provide enough production capacity Reduce material handling cost © Reduce hazards to personnel © Utilise labor efficiently Increase employee morale © Reduce accidents © Provide for volume and product flexibility. ‘© Provide ease of supervision and control * Provide for employee safety and health © Allow ease of maintenance ‘© Allow high machine or equipment utilization * Improve productivity To get acquainted with te lay out of the Yarn Manufacturing Laboratory. A belt can have many forms, but the three principle types are: flat, toothed, and v-belts. Flat belts transfer a load by being pre-tensioned, and as with cables, the pulleys act like capstans. A gear or cogwheel is a rotating machine part having cut teeth, or cogs, which mesh with another toothed part to transmit torque. Geared devices can change the speed, torque, and direction of a power source. Gears almost always produce a change in torque, creating & mechanical advantage, through their gear ratio, and thus may be considered a simple machine. The teeth on the two meshing gears all have the same shape. Two or more meshing Bea"S, working in a sequence, are called a gear train or a transmission. The gears in a transmission are analogous to the wheels in a crossed belt pulley system. An advantage of gears is that the teeth of a gear prevent slippage. When two gears mesh, if one gear is bigger than the other, mechanical advantage is produced, with the rotational speeds, and the torques, of the two gears differing in proportion to their diameters. Ths Is achieved by passing tM fibers between differentially moving surfaces covered with card clothing It breaks up locks am unorganized clumps of fiber and then aligns the individual fibers to be parallel with each other. card Is hall. ‘Two maxims of the experts ~ ‘The card is the heart of the spinning mill and ‘Well cart spun’ ~ demonstrate the immense significance of the carding for the final result of the sP operation. Following are the functions of carding: * Individualization of fibers. Elimination of impurities. Elimination of dust. Disentangling of neps. Elimination of short fibers. Fiber blending. Fiber orientation. Sliver formation.
