Memorization Sheet for fractions, percentages, and decimals.

1. CONVERSION TABLE

2. FRACTIONS AND DECIMALS

• Bigger denominator → smaller fraction


• A/B = A×1/B
• A/(1/B) = A×B

• Comparing Fractions: 𝑣𝑠 → 𝐴 × 𝐷 𝑣𝑠 𝐵 × 𝐶. If A×D is bigger, then
𝐵 𝐷
A/B is the bigger fraction!
• Decimal to percentage: multiply by 100
• Percentage to decimal: divide by 100

3. PERCENTAGES (PERCENT = PER 100 = VALUE/100)

• 10% and 1% building blocks: shift the decimal point one or two places to
the right, respectively
• 20% of 30 is 2×3=6; 25% of 40 is 2.5×4=10
• 35% of 20 = 20% of 35
• Reverse percentage for price reduction: Original price = new price /what’s
left
• Reverse % for price increase: Original price = new price /what was added
