1. Give three general rules to avoid a hazard when using hand tools.

Ans: Do not use tools for jobs they are not intended to do. ...
 Do not apply excessive force or pressure on tools.
 Do not cut towards yourself when using cutting tools.
 Do not hold the stock in the palm of your hand when using a cutting tool or a
screwdriver.
2. Give three tools used for measurement?

Ans: Vernier Caliper. Vernier Caliper is a widely used linear measurement instrument with
the least count of 0.02 mm

3. Why do we use a center punch and a scriber?

Ans: Whenever you need to drill a hole, you've got to have a center punch to start the hole. The
scribe is a layout and marking tool and is used for making clear lines on metal sheet to indicate cuts,
folds, or other layout lines.

Ans: ball peen hammer is used for striking punches and chisels
Claw hammer is used for removing nails from the claw side and the flat side is
used for hammering

6. How do we use a Hacksaw?

Ans: Select correct blade for material being cut.


 Secure blade with the teeth pointing forward. Tighten the nut until the blade is under
tension.
 Keep blade rigid, and frame properly aligned.
 Cut using steady strokes, directed away from you.
 Use entire length of blade in each cutting stroke.
 Use light machine oil on the blade to keep it from overheating and breaking.

7. What type of knife should be used for electrical work?

is by far the best well-rounded type of knife an Electrician uses. Another example
are hawk’s bill or sheep foot knife blade.

18.Give a brief explanation of:
a. Drilling machines
A drilling machine, also called a drill press, is a powerful tool used to cut a

through turning and advancing rotary drill bits into a workpiece.
b. Grinding machines
A grinding machine, often shortened to grinder, is one of power tools or
machine tools used for grinding. It is a type of machining using an abrasive
wheel as the cutting tool. Each grain of abrasive on the wheel's surface cuts
a small chip from the workpiece via shear deformation.
c. Jig Saw
A jigsaw is a saw which uses a reciprocating blade to cut irregular curves,
such as stenciled designs, in wood, metal, or other materials
d. Impact Wrench
An impact wrench (also known as an impactor, impact gun, air wrench, air
gun, rattle gun, torque gun, windy gun) is a socket wrench power tool
designed to deliver high torque output with minimal exertion by the user, by
storing energy in a rotating mass, then delivering it suddenly to the output
shaft.
19. Give a tool safety tip.

Ans: 1. Inspect regularly


 Regularly inspect your tools to make sure that they are in good condition.
 
2. Wear gloves
 Always wear appropriate personal protective equipment.
 

3. Carry with care


 Never carry tools up a ladder.
 If you need to take tools up to a height use a bag or hoist them up in a bucket.
 

4. Don't pocket sharp objects


 Never carry sharp or pointed tools in your pocket.
 Instead, carry them in a toolbox.
 

5. Be aware of your surroundings


 Always be aware of the people around you when using tools.
 

6. Use the right tools


 Always use the right tools for the job.
 Never use a tool for a different purpose than it was intended.
 You risk damaging the tools and injuring yourself.
