LESSON PLAN IN SCIENCE

GRADE 7

CONTENT STANDARD: The learners demonstrate an understanding of motion in one dimension.

PERFORMANCE STANDARD: The learners should be able to conduct a forum on mitigation and
disaster risk reduction.

LEARNING COMPETENCY/COMPETENCIES:
1. Describe the motion of an object in terms of distance or displacement, speed and
velocity or acceleration.

I. OBJECTIVES
At the end of the session, the students are expected to:
1. Describe the motion of an object through the distance travelled and
displacement.
2. Make a roadmap showing how to get from their house to the school.
3. Differentiate distance from displacement.

II. CONTENT
Topic – MODULE 1 – DESCRIBING MOTION
Descriptors of Motion: Distance or Displacement

ACTIVITY: MY HOME TO SCHOOL ROADMAP (see LM pp. 136)

G. Evaluate

Directions: Identify whether the following pertains to distance or displacement.

1. Refers to the shortest distance between the objects two positions.

2. The length of the space separating two people, places, or things.
3. Refers to the distance between the initial position and final position of an
object.
4. Refers to the length of the entire path that the object has travelled.
5. When you go to school, you travel 5 meters to the north, then 10 meters to
the west and finally 15 meters to the south, therefore, you travelled a total
of 30 meters. 30 meters is the measure of _______.
