BACKGROUND OF THE STUDY

The City of Cavite is a coastal area, which makes it prone to the harmful mosquito-

borne disease such as Dengue Fever Virus. According to the Department of Health in

2019, there are a total of 271,480 dengue cases. In Cavite alone, there are approximately

6,232 Dengue cases that have been recorded since January 1, 2019 to August 5, 2019,

showing an increase by 50.2%. Philippines typically has a hot climate which makes the

mosquitoes more susceptible to infection, increasing the chance of infectivity and

mutation. A large quantity of humans, use synthetic insecticdes to eliminate the cause of

the infection. Some mutated mosquitoes become resistant to the synthetic insecticides,

making it useless. An abundant small tree called Atis(Annona Squamosa)

STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM

This study aims to determine the larvicidal activity of Atis(Annona Squamosa) seeds and

Lansones(Lansium Domesicum) peelings extract against Yellow Fever

Mosquitoes(Aedes Aegypti). Specifically, this study answers the following questions:

 Does Atis(Annona Squamosa) seed and Lansones(Lansium Domesticum) peeling

extract has larvicidal potential?

 How long will it take for the Atis(Annona Squamosa) seed and

Lansones(Lansium Domesticum) peeling to kill the Yellow Fever

Mosquito(Aedes Aegypti)?

 Can the natural larvcide be more effective than the synthetic larvicide?

This study aims to determine the larvicidal potential of Atis(Annona Squamosa) seeds

and Lansones(Lansium Domesticum) peelings extract against Yellow Fever

Mosquito(Aedes Aegypti). Specifically it aims to:

 Produce a natural, eco-friendly and low-cost larvicide for Yellow Fever

Mosquitoes(Aedes Aegypti)

 Prove the efficacy of Atis(Annona Squamosa) seeds and Lansones(Lansium

Domesticum) peelings as a natural larvicide

 Kill the Yellow Fever Mosquito using Atis(Annona Squamosa) seed and

Lansones(Lansium Domesticum) peeling extract
