USA Importing From Bangladesh

There are about 90 % of the total exports from Bangladesh to the United States are ready made
garments.
The United States is Bangladesh's one of the most important trading partner, with about 17-18
per cent of its exports are being destined for the United States. Two sided trade between the
United States and Bangladesh was over US$ 8.2 billion in 2018 From the United States
perspective, Bangladesh can be considered as a small trading partner, as Bangladesh was the
51st largest trading partner of the United States in 2018.

Exported Products : Bangladesh's major exportable items include woven apparel, knit apparel,
miscellaneous Textile products, Cap, Headgear, Footwear, Tobacco, Snacks foods, Furniture,
Ceramic, Toys, Plastic items, Artificial flowers etc.
Bangladesh has total apparel export in USA was worth $4.28 billion in 2010 and after it reached
to $5.41 billion during 2018. After china Bangladesh is the second largest apparel exporters to
the United States.

Now, there are 92 LEED - Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certified green
garment factories in Bangladesh, which is the highest in number in the world. Six out of the
world's top 10 LEED certified factories are located in Bangladesh. 25 out of 91 LEED certified
apparel factories have achieved the highest certificate provided by the US Green Building
Council (USGBC), which is the highest in number in case of platinum rated garment factories in
the world.

At present , Bangladesh and Germany are maintaining an excellent two-sided trade

relationship. .Now, Germany is the largest trading partner of Bangladesh in Europe and it is the
second largest globally. At this time, Bangladesh currently holds the 37th place in the ranking of
Germany's trading partner and its significance has been increasing over a number of years.
Exported Products: In 2019, Bangladesh exported $6.68B to Germany. Main exported
products from Bangladesh to Germany were Knit T-shirts -$1.23B, Non-Knit Men's Suits -
$1.09B, and Knit Sweaters -$975M. During the last 24 years the exports of Bangladesh to
Germany have increased at an annualized rate of 12.4%, from $400M in 1995 to $6.69B in 2019.

We can see , In the calendar year 2018 the trade volume increased by 12% to around 4.4 billion
Euro. Exports from Bangladesh to Germany amounted to about EUR 3,81 billion in 2018 in
comparison with German exports to Bangladesh of EUR 599 million for the same period.
It is more than 93% of imports from Bangladesh are textile products.
