3. Methodolozy. More than 5.000 families are involved in the silk handloom business. The town has two concentric settlement cores, where the town evolved around two predominant temples: Periya Kanchi (around Pkambaranathar Temple) 2nd Chinna Kanchi (Varadharaja Perumal Temple) (Pigure 2). Therefore, these two settlement cores are adopted as the study area for this research (Figeure 2) Suid Periva Kanehs. The Periya Kanchi area is also referred to as Shiva Kanchi and is, where most of the Saiva community people are settled, ‘These people are devotees of Lord Shiva and therefore have settled around Lkambaranathar Femple. Most of the Shiva temples are located in Periya Kanchi. ‘The main administrative buildings and major public ‘amenities are situated in theares. where most of the Vaishnava community people have settied. Vishnea Kanchi ts famous for He art and cultural activities. Well-known Varadharaja Perumal Temple is the focal point of this settlement evolution.
