INTRODUCTION

1. General

This manual is written to the ATA Specification 100 revision 37 and in AECMA Simplified
English. SI units of measurement are used in this manual, with Imperial units in parentheses.

The manual describes maintenance on the component in a workshop. It does not describe
maintenance on the component when it is installed in the aircraft.

Only approved persons with the necessary skills must be used for the maintenance procedures
described in this manual.

Maintenance Task Oriented Support System (MTOSS) task and subtask identification is used
in this manual. The maintenance tasks and other data have special MTOSS numbers for the
use of Electronic Data Processing (EDP). The MTOSS numbers can be ignored by the user of
the manual.

This manual contains:

 Technical data for the component.
 Maintenance and repair procedures for the component.

An Illustrated Parts List (IPL) (or Illustrated Parts Catalog (IPC)) with data for the component
parts. Parts are identified in all sections of the manual by the IPL Figure and item number.

We verified the DISASSEMBLY, TESTING AND FAULT ISOLATION, and ASSEMBLY

procedures by actual performance.

2. Manual structure

This manual has front pages, including the Title Page and other basic information and this
introduction. The main content of the manual is organized by sections as shown in the table,
although some sections may not be necessary.

2. Description of the passenger seat

A. Physical Description (Figure 1)
The passenger seats are made of a composite and aluminum tubular frame, bonded with
titanium junctions. All parts (textiles and accessories) are attached on this tubular frame.
Seat assemblies are attached to the seat track of cabin floor by four fittings, two in the front
leg and two in the rear tie beams. A simple disengagement of the four fittings lets to
remove the seat from seat tracks by moving the seat 1/2 inch backward and lifting it up.
In front row configuration, the movable armrest must be set in upright position in order to
allow the easy deployment and stowing of the In Arm Tray Table.
An identification tag is installed on every seat assembly, giving its P/N, S/N and
compliance list. The position of this identification tag is given in Figure 2.
WARNING : DO NOT SIT IF FITTINGS ARE NOT PROPERLY FIXED ONTO THE RAILS.
THIS CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONNEL AND/OR DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.

Subtask 25-20-01-220-001-A01
A. Composite visual inspection

NOTE: The aim of the inspection is to detect barely visible impact damage (BVID) or
visible impact damage (VID) on the composite tube of the primary load path, and
to make sure that bond lines do not present any signs of disband or joint
separation.

NOTE: Time labor is less than 10 min per double seat (four tubes and eight bond lines
must be inspected per double).
(1) Make sure that the four composite tube is clean, (Refer to Subtask 25-20-01-100-004-
A01).
(2) Examine the exposed area of the four composite tube connected to the front foot
titanium fittings of the seat foot for damages with Tool003:
 Any visible crack, dent or hole must be reported to emergency@expliseat.com.

NOTE: The light must be more than 750 lux to clearly see the tube relief. If the light is
less than 750 lux, use Tool005.
(3) Do a scan of the external surface and the associated bond lines at each tube
extremity.

NOTE: If the light is not sufficient for all orientation, use Tool005.
(4) Make sure that there is no dent, crack, hole (composite tube) and disbond or joint
separation (bond lines).

NOTE: Small scratches are not considered as defect. If a scratch seems important, a
complementary tactile scanning is recommended: if by a finger pressure, the
scratch feel clearly like a crack, it is considered as a defect.

INTRODUCTION

1. General

The Illustrated Parts List (IPL) is prepared to ATA 100.

The IPL is intended to identify all the components of the unit.

The IPL contains the following sections:

 Introduction (INTRO), with the suppliers name and code list.
 Equipment Designator Index (EDI).
 AlphaNumerical Index (NI/ALPHA and NI/NUM).
 Optional Vendor Index (OVI).
 Detailed Parts List (DPL).

2. Utilization of the Detailed Parts List

The Detailed Parts List gives the list and the illustrations of the parts constituting the assembly
concerned.

The columns of the Detailed Parts List are arranged as follows:

 1st column : FIGURE-ITEM (figure number and item number).
 2nd column : PART NUMBER (Manufacturer's).
 3rd column : Airline Stock Number (11 characters).
 4th column : NOMENCLATURE.
 5th column : USAGE CODE.
 6th column : UNITS PER ASSY (Quantity per next higher assembly).
A. Figure and item numbers
Each part item listed in the parts list has a unique item number. The figure number to
which the item numbers apply is shown on the first line at the top of each page.
If an assembly, sub-assembly or a part is listed, but not illustrated, a dash (-) is added in
front of the item number.
An alpha variant item number (1A, 1B, 10A, 10B) is used for:
 parts added by modification, better product, change of material etc.
 equivalent part with different usage code.
 optional parts, unless an alpha variant is listed for another reason. In this case, optional
part number must be given in the Nomenclature column.
The alpha variants are not use for additional item. If items are added, they have an item
between the items which are in the list unless they are added at the end of the list.

B. Part number
Each of the assemblies, sub-assemblies and detail parts illustrated or not has a
manufacturer's part number.
When there is a modification or a material change of a part, a new manufacturer and a
new part number is given. The initial and the new part number are in the parts list, with the
new part number shown as a variant item with a usage code.
For the standard parts, the standard part number shows on the part number column and
the given manufacturer part number shows in the nomenclature column on the line after
description.
There is no vendor codes for standard parts such as AN, MS, NAS.
C. Indenture system
The nomenclature is shown using the insetting (lining up) that enables the connection that
exists between the various elements to be shown as follows :
1234567
Assembly
. Basic parts of the assembly
. Subassemblies
. Attaching parts and/or storage apart of the sub-assembly
XXX
. . Basic parts of the sub-assembly
. . Subassemblies
. . Attaching parts and/or storage apart of the sub-assembly
XXX
. . . Basic parts of the assembly
D. Nomenclature
Keywords are used in the nomenclature column (see chapter “Terms and abbreviations
used”).
For an electrostatic discharge sensitive, electronic component, (“ESDS”) is added to the
description.
For a part applicable to a left hand or right hand position only, (LH) or (RH) is added to the
description.
The parts changed by a service bulletin (SB) are identified POST SB XX XXX, with the
Airworthiness Directive (AD) number (if it is known).
Ex: ADDED BY SB XX XXX (AD XXXX)
DELETED BY SB XX XXX (AD XXXX)
The manufacturer's code is only shown in condition of item not made by the prime
manufacturer.

Page 2
25-20-01 JAN 31/17
COMPONENT MAINTENANCE MANUAL
PT15E-002

The manufacturer's code and the abbreviation "NP" (Non-Procurable) are installed at the
extreme right hand side of the first line of the nomenclature column.
E. Usage code
An alphanumeric usage code (“USAGE FROM TO” column) gives the ability to attach the
sub-assemblies and the basic parts to the higher assembly(ies) or sub-assembly(ies).
If the part or sub-assembly is used on all assemblies, the USAGE CODE column is left
blank.
Example: The usage code of the part used on assemblies 1A, 1B and 1C is written 1ABC.
This code corresponds to the reference of the assembly(ies) or the sub-assembly(ies) next
above.
F. Units per assembly
The “UNIT PER ASSY” column shows the necessary number of parts for one (1) next
higher assembly.
In some conditions, the letters RF (for ReFerence only) or the letters AR (As Required)
replace this information.

3. Updating
A revision to a page is defined as any change to the printed matter that existed previously.
When an item is revised, added or deleted, the letter "R" is shown in the RH margin (the
date of issue changes).
A code letter "R" in the LH margin opposite the chapter/ section/subject, page number and
date, will indicate that the text was unchanged but the material was relocated to a different
page.

seat covers.
2 Check the seat track fittings for secure attachment to the
floor tracks.
3 Check the condition of the life vest pouches and bottom
cushions.
