• Explain and distinguish the concepts of hazard, disaster, and disaster risk.
• Explain how and when a hazard becomes a disaster.
• Differentiate the main types of disasters.
• Describe the effects of disasters on life, property and environment.
• Identify areas and locations exposed to hazards that may lead to disasters.
• Describe and analyze the disasters from different perspective (physical, psychological, sociocultural, economic, political, and biological).
OBJECTIVES • Identify and differentiate the risk factors underlying disasters.
• Explain, distinguish, and recognize the connection among vulnerability, exposure and hazards.
• Analyze why certain structures are more vulnerable to specific hazards than others.
• Recognize the vulnerabilities of different elements exposed to hazards.
• Give an example pf an actual situation that demonstrates vulnerabilities, exposure, and hazard of a community.
• Define hazards.
• Give examples of the types of hazards.
• Determine the manner by which hazards can be profiled.
• Identify hazard-prone areas in the Philippines.
