A. Daily Routine

 Prayer
Before our class start, let us all stand and Mr.
Salazar kindly lead the prayer. (One student lead
the prayer)
…………. Amen.
 Greetings
Good morning class.

Good morning
 Arranging the Chairs ma’am.
Okay class, please pick all the pieces of papers
and arrange your chairs. Mr. Llenes kindly erase
the writings on the board.

 Checking of attendance
Now say present your name is called. Abrigo, Aniel,
Arnejo…….

Are all students in this class are present?

Present ma’am.
Very good! Keep this good attendance class.
Yes ma'am.

B. Recapitulation
And now, let me first ask you Mr. Saludar, what
was our lesson from our last discussion? What
have you learned last time?
Ma’am I learned
that...
Very Good Mr. Saludar. How about you Ms.
Valiber?
From our past
discussion ma’am,
I also learned....

Very Good Mr. Valiber! Okay, so we are already

done with solving radical equations. Therefore, our
next topic that we'll going to tackle for today's
discussion is all about "Quadrilaterals".

But before proceeding to the next, first I have

someting to ask. Did everybody prepared the
materials I've said last time? Have you prepared
your mobile phones with internet load? Because we
will be going to use it after our discuss.

Is every body prepaid?

Yes maam we are

Okay very good! all prepared.

C. Motivation
So I have here flashed figures in my PowerPoint
presentation. What you'll going to do is prepare 1/4
sheet of paper and answer the following.
Direction: Recall your understanding on the figures
of quadrilaterals. Give each identification.

Figure # 1.

Figure # 2.

Figure # 3.

Figure # 4.

Figure # 5.

Figure # 6.

Figure # 7.

So after identifying all the figures presented, let us

first discuss what have you observed from these
figures. Yes Mr. Rosas, share your understanding
to your classmates.

Very good Mr. Rosas.

Who else? Yes Mr. Sabondo

As I observed

Answer No1: Quadrilaterals

Answer No2: Parallelogram

It has four angles
Answer No3: Rectangle ma'am.

Answer No4: Square

Answer No5: Rhombus

Answer No6: Trapezoid

Answer No7: Kite

So those who got 7 pass all your papers in front.

6,.......5,........4,........3,.........2,.......1,........0.

(Everybody
passed all their
papers)

D. Presentation/Discussion

So what has been said, the figures have four sides, four
angles, and what else? It also has four verticals, and two
diagonals. So if the figure has these, we call it "quadrilateral"

And now before we start, kindly distribute all this hard copies
Mr. Leones. I want all the class to listen very carefully on
what we will going to discuss. So by that, you will no longer
jotting down your notes. Okay?

So here's brief discription about quadrilaterals.

(Flashed in the PowerPoint Presentation)

WHAT IS QUADRILATERALS?

- Quadrilaterals are polygon with four sides, four angles, four

verticles, and two diagonals.

- The sum of the interior angles of a quadrilateral is 360°.

- A quadrilateral whose both pairs of opposite sides are

parallel is called a parallelogram. Parallelogram are
rectangle, rhombus and square.

- A quadrilateral that only has one pair of opposite sides that

are parallel is called a trapezium.

- A quadrilateral with all sides equal is called a rhombus.

At this moment class, get your mobile phones because during

our discussion I want all of you to manipulate your gadget in
drawing polygons. Kindly open your mobile data and go to
this link:

https://www.gliffy.com/free-trial

I'll be sending this link to your classmate and just forward to it

others class. Sign it first, so you'll have it then. Before we
start every body must already in.

Are you done?

Not yet ma'am

Okay take your time, make it fast.

Yes Ma'am.

Okay so I want you to draw the polygons

(PowerPoint Presentation)

 Quadrilateral

 Parallelogram

 Rectangle

 Square
 Rhombus

 Trapezoid

 Kite

So you already drawn the polygons, next thing you'll do is to

create the Quadrilateral Family Tree Flow Chart/Concept Map
demonstrating the quadrilateral relationships with the use of
your drawings. Arrange the polygon based on the
characteristics we've discussed earlier.

You come up with this diagram class? Look at the diagram in

your mobile phones and compare it to this diagram (in the
PowerPoint)

Mr. Salazar kindly share your knowledge about quadrilateral

based on the diagram being presented on the powerpoint.

Mr. Salazar: The

parallelograms,

you to determine which quadrilateral that is parallelogram and
which is not. All you need to do is put check to where it
belongs.

(PowerPoint Presentation)

Do you get me class?

Write it in your 1/8 sheet of paper. Then after answering, just

keep it by self because you will be going to check your works
afterwards.

Yes you can. So here is the table class. Make your works
fast. Yes ma'am.

Next, is you will going to watch the prepaired video. This

video is all about the properties of parallelogram that
guarantees a quadrilateral.

The Properties of Parallelograms

Parallelograms
1. A quadrilateral is a parallelogram if both pairs of opposite
sides are congruent.
2. A quadrilateral is a parallelogram if both pairs of opposite
angles are congruent.
3. A quadrilateral is a parallelogram if pairs of consecutive
angles are supplementary.
4. A quadrilateral is a parallelogram if the diagonals bisect
each other.
5. A quadrilateral is a parallelogram if the diagonals divides a

6. A quadrilateral is a parallelogram if one pairs of opposite
sides are congruent and parallel.

Any question class regarding the properties of parallelogram?

Yes Mrs. Verano what was your question?

Ma’am regarding
to this properties,
all these properties
of parallelogram
are present in
rectangle, square
and rhombus only
Yes Mrs. Verano, therefore we can only determine that not in trapezoid

polygon. Does it
- All quadrilaterals are parallelogram? mean that the
polygon is not a
parallelogram?

So now before proceeding to the next topic let's have first

read this free verse poem entitled "Who Am I?".

"Who Am I"
I am a quadrilateral,
Yes ma'am.
Both pairs of my opposite sides are parallel,
Both pairs of my opposite sides are congruent, No ma'am.
Both pairs of my opposite angles are congruent,
My consecutive angles are supplementary,
My diagonals bisect each other but my diagonals are not
congruent,
So who am I? I am parallelogram.

I am a parallelogram,
My diagonals are congruent,
I have all right angles,
So who am I? I am rectangle.

I am a parallelogram,
I have four congruent sides,
My diagonals are perpendicular and congruent,
So who am I? I am square.

I am a parallelogram,
My diagonals are perpendicular,
All my sides are congruent,
My diagonals bisect my angles,
So who am I? I am rhombus.

Okay very good class!

So now let us proceed to: Solving Problems on Properties

of Parallelograms

Here are examples in solving problems on properties of

parallelograms. Determining the measures of sides, angles,
diagonals.

Example 1. Use the parallelogram NOTE to find the value of

x, y and the length of segment OE and segment TE.
In this problem, we will be going to use reflexive property to
solve for the unknowns such as x and y.

While substitution method will be use for solving segment OE

and ET.

Since segment NO and TE are congruent, so the measures

of NO and TE are equal. To get the value of x, we have to
eliminate the other x by subtracting it by itself. Therefor one x
would be let and that would be easy to evaluate and solve for
x.

So it would be for solving the value of y by using reflexive

property. To get the final measurement of segment OE and
segment ET, we will be going to use substitution method.
Substituting the value of x and y in the expressions.)

Exercise 2. Use the parallelogram YOUR to find measures.

In this problem, we all know that angle Y and angle R are

congruent. Therefore, will going to use reflexive property to
solve for a. Eliminate the “a” in other side by subtracting itself
to get the value of “a”.

Substitution method will be used for solving angle Y and R.

Substituting the value of “a” to the expressions.

Note that angle R and O is equal to 180. Since angle O is

being asked, we will be going to use the value of angle R to
solve for angle O by subtracting 180 to angle O.

Exercise 3. Diagonals AC bisects diagonal DB and meet at E.

In this problem, Segment DE and segment EB are congruent.
Diagonal DB is the sum of segment DE and EB. Then add
the two congruent segments to get the measure of diagonal
DB.

Segment AE is half of diagonal AC. Segment EC is half of

diagonal AC. Measure of segment AC is the sum of segment
AE and EC. Since segment AE and EC are congruent,
therefore AC will be divided into two to get the value of
segment AE.

E. Activity

So now, prepare 1/4 sheet of paper and answer the following.

A. Answer the following. Draw each polygons and put label

each figures.

1. Quadrilateral

2. Parallelogram

3. Rectangle

4. Square

5. Rhombus

6. Kite
7. Trapezoid

B. Answer the following statement. Write True if the

statement is true and False is the statement is false.

1. A parallelogram has two opposite sides

that are congruent.
2. A parallelogram has two consecutive
angles that are congruent.
3. A parallelogram has two consecutive
angles that are complementary.
4. The diagonals of a parallelogram bisect
each other.
5. A diagonal of a parallelogram forms two
congruent triangles.
6. All parallelograms are quadrilaterals?
7. All quadrilaterals are parallelograms?

(After answering the activity, kindly pass all your papers in

the table.)

F. Abstraction

J. Application

The class is divided into groups. Group must contain 3

members. As what I’ve instructed during our last discussion
regarding to this activity, you will be going to draw a house
with the use of Gliffy. So at this moment, go to your groups
and work with your team. Everybody must collaborate to this
performance task.

So here are the instructions;

 Your group would be drawing a house with the use of

Gliffy on http://www.gliffy.com.

 What you'll going to do is identify and label each

quadrilaterals that is present in your drawings.

 Provide the measurements of sides, angles and

diagonals that are present on your drawing.

 Present your drawing in the class.

Note: The more you make it creatively and chromatic or have
your work out of simplicity and presented with proper
measurements would be evaluated with higher grades.
