1. Title
Landslide Hazard Assessment and Distribution Mapping of Siwalik region, Miklajung
Rural Municipality, Eastern Nepal
2. Introduction
Landslide hazard is the most common in the Nepal Himalaya region due to the fragile lithology
Himalayan orogenic process, high relief, steep slopes, complex geology, and diverse land use. It
has only recently dawned upon us to take care of our natural resources and manage them wisely
to reduce the risks that natural and man-made landslide hazards pose to people living today and
ensure that future generations can live in a carefree manner. Therefore, landslide hazard
assessment is most essential. Landslide hazard Assessment is helpful for the planners and
engineers to find the safest place to design the project in a safe location and save Life hood. This
research's main goal is to do a landslide hazard assessment and prepare a hazard and
distribution map with an assessment of the area. It is an integrated GIS-based approach for
landslide hazards risk assessment. The database thematic maps for analysis can prepare from
the geoprocessing tools of GIS. And the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) module is prepared for
the proper analysis and zonal separation of the hazards with their grade.
3. Objectives
The main objectives of the study are to landslide hazard mapping of the area with
Distribution mapping by google earth, satellite image and GIS. Some of the specific
objectives are:
4. Methodology
✓ Field Study
The field study consists of about one month for the data collection. The data includes the
possible Landslide Hazard, previous hazard around the area, causative factors of the
hazards assessment due to hazard effect, geology, geomorphology of the area, and so on.
