INTRODUCTION

A. IMPROVING LISTENING AND SPEAKING SKILLS BY USING ANIMATION


VIDEOS AND DISCUSSION METHOD

The first journal by Rizka Amalia MPROVING LISTENING AND SPEAKING


SKILLS BY USING ANIMATION VIDEOS AND DISCUSSION METHOD describes
what listening and speaking skills are, what are animation videos, the advantages and
disadvantages of using animation Videos, the definition of discussion entitled Imethod,
the advantages and disadvantages of discussion method, and techniques in using video. In
terms of content, the discussion in this journal is complete and uses quite a number of
references, but there are no supporting pictures or graphics. In addition, there are no
examples of the application of the animation videos method in it.

B. PODCAST: An alternative way to improve EFL students’ listening and speaking


performance
The second journal is entitled "PODCAST: An alternative way to improve EFL students'
listening and speaking performance "by Marisa Yoestara and Zaiyana Putri. This journal
discusses the impacts of using podcasts in improving listening and speaking performance. As
there is a trend of using ICT in language teaching growths, the authors intend to discuss about
the media that can be used inenhancing students' ability in listening skills and speaking
performance. In addition, some rationales why podcast can be used in order to improve the
students' English listening and speaking performance is also discussed in this journal. In
terms of content, the discussion in this journal is complete and uses many references. In
journals there are also many statements of experts as supporters. But, there are no pictures or
graphics at all to support the explanation.

DISCUSSION

A. Title

VIDEOS AND DISCUSSION METHOD

Is this learning method only suitable for elementary school or junior high school
or senior high school, because the title of the area is not mentioned for a specific
student towards a person. so, this journal is made available to the general public.

Is this learning method also suitable for Junior High Schools or Senior High
Schools, because the title of the area is only mentioned for students, and does not
explain the contents of the journal in total.

B. Writing style

Both the first and second journals, systematically structured quite well and clearly,
starting from the research title, author's name, abstract, introduction, description of the
material under study, methods, results, discussion, conclusions, there are keywords in the
research.It's just that in our opinion it's still not neat.

C. Abstract

The explanation in the abstract is clearly explained, that this journal discusses the
English learning method using animated video media and the discussion method. The
writing format is also quite good.

the method of learning English using what media. The writing format is quite good, but
there is still a less neat arrangement.

D. Purpose

The ideas in the journal are quite relevant and important. This means that in
schools an English learning system is needed using teaching methods in the form of
animated videos to make it more effective and enjoyable for students.

The ideas in the journal are quite relevant and important. This means that schools
need an English learning system using a teaching method in the form of "listening". be it
a song or something.

CONCLUSION
According to “Improving Listening And Speaking Skills By Using Animation Videos
And Discussion Method” journal, using animation videos in the language classroom has
some advantages and disadvantages as well. It depends on how the teacher uses them as the
media in teaching. When the videos are used appropriately, by choosing the suitable ones,
using them at the right time and the right place, and applying the practical techniques of using
videos, they can give some good contributions to the English language learning. So, it is
important for the teacher to consider some aspects before she uses a media in teaching and
learning process in order she and the students can get advantages of using the media.

According to “PODCAST: An alternative way to improve EFL students’ listening and


speaking performance” journals, podcasting is an important teaching method for improving
Indonesian students' speaking and listening skills because it can provide authentic content,
encourage self-regulated learning, increase language confidence, and promote active learning.
However, in order to successfully incorporate the use of podcasts into the language
classroom, the teacher must understand the TPACK structure and be mindful of possible
issues. Also, Even though there are some words that are difficult for common people to
understand, in our opinion both of these journals is a good journals and worth reading to
increase our knowledge about how to improving/improving our listening and speaking skills
in english language

SUGGESTIONS

There are many learning media that can be used to improve listening and speaking
skills, either through animated video media or PODCAST media. Both of these media are
very suitable for someone who wants to improve their listening and speaking skills. If you
want a more practical way of learning English, you can use animated video media. But if you
want an alternative way to improve listening and speaking performance you can use
PODCAST media.
