Introduction
Overview of the speaking exam
The 0520 CIE IGCSE in French exam has an
oral component which assesses your ability
to communicate in speech, showing
knowledge of a range and variety of
vocabulary, and applying the grammar and
structures of the target language (French).

The speaking exam is divided into three

compulsory parts.
• Test 1: Role Plays.
• Test 2: Topic Presentation/Conversation
• Test 3: General conversation

In the topic Presentation/Conversation and

the General Conversation tests, a range of
questions will be asked to you and to be
successful, you will be expected to have
practised many of those questions.
