Q.1 An oil of viscosity 4.25 Poise flows in a 45mm diameter pipe the discharge is 5.25
lit/sec. If the specific gravity of oil is 0.87, find the type of flow.

Q.2 An oil of viscosity 10 Poise flows in a 50mm diameter pipe the discharge is 100
lit/sec. If the specific gravity of oil is 1.25, find the type of flow
(CO4-10 Marks)

Q.3 In a pipe of diameter 350mm and length 75m water is flowing at a velocity of
2.8 m/s. Find the head lost due to friction using (a) Darcy’s Weisbach formula
(b) Chezy’s formula with C=55, assume kinematic viscosity of water as 0.012 stokes

Q.4 In a pipe of diameter 250mm and length 50m oil of SG=1.2 is flowing at a velocity of
4.5 m/s. Find the head lost due to friction using (a) Darcy’s Weisbach formula
(b) Chezy’s formula with C=60, assume kinematic viscosity of oil as 0.035 stokes

Q.5 A flat plate of 1.5m X 1.5m moves at a speed of 50 km/hr in stationary air of density
1.15 kg/m3 if the coefficient of drag and lift are 0.15 and 0.75 respectively Calculate
the lift force and drag force and power required to maintain this speed.

Q.6 A flat plate of 1.8m X 1.5m moves at a speed of 60 km/hr in stationary air of density
1.05 kg/m3 if the coefficient of drag and lift are 0.25 and 0.65 respectively Calculate
