What is Science Writing?

Writing about scientific subject matter for


audience of non-scientists. And when we
are writing science writing of course we
are producing science news which
basically news about science.
REMEMBER :
People who communicate
science aren't necessarily
practicing scientist, although
they may have a science
background.
REMEMBER :
Focus on how science is applied in the
event or in topic.
Example :
Anung mga nutrients ang ibinibigay
ng isang bagong tuklas na gamot?

The aim of communicating
science to a general audience
is to deliver challenging
concepts in a timely,
engaging, informative and
compelling way.

3. LOCAL HEALTH OFFICES
4. ENVIRONMENT
5. COMMUNITY
Preparing your story
TYPES OF AUDIENCE
Consider your audience at this early stage. What
part of the story will be they more interested in?

You should think carefully about who will read your


story before you write it.
HEADLINES/PAMAGAT
Keep it short as much as possible. It should be
appropriate to your story.
For example :
FIRST SENTENCES
First Paragraph :
A good (catchy) introduction about your topic.
(At least 1 paragraph, short or long)
EXAMPLE :
Maliban sa Covid-19, heat stroke ang isa sa kalaban
sa mainit na panahon lalo na ngayong summer kung saan ay
lumalagpas pa minsan ang temperatura sa 40 degree celsius
sa ibang panig ng bansa lalo na sa Katimugang Luzon.
Second Paragraph :
Ipasok o isulat na ang inyong subject o
paksa. Tungkol saan ba ang iyong
sinusulat.
EXAMPLE :
BUNSOD NITO, NAIMBENTO NG ILANG MAG-AARAL
MULA GOVERNOR FERRER MEMORIAL NATIONAL HIGH
SCHOOL - MAIN ANG ISANG MULTIFUNCTIONAL ROBOT KUNG
SAAN AY KAYANG MADETECT ANG TEMPERATURA NA
ANGDUDULOT NG HEAT STROKE LALO NA SA LOOB NG
PAARALAN.
Third Paragraph :
Additional information tungkol sa
paksa, at least one sentence-paragraph.
HOW TO END YOUR STORY
use quotes instead of using your own
words to make a point, you could use direct
quotes from people with expertise in the
subject you are exploring.
