1 Introduction
The learning content of a learning journey is optimally conveyed and consolidated
through the mixture of independent learning units and guided live modules. In the
live modules you learn together with others and with the support of a learning
companion. Thanks to the self-learning modules, the learning units can be ideally
integrated into everyday work and adapted to your own learning pace.
Note In this guide you will find a documentation of the most important steps to
familiarize yourself with the most important tools before the learning journey.
These steps must be carried out no later than two working days before the start
of the Learning Journey!

2 What are the technical requirements to

attend a Learning Journey
Requirements
In order for you to have the best possible learning success, you should check the
technical requirements:
• PC with mouse and keyboard,
• Speakers and microphone
• Two monitors or one monitor and a tablet
• Webcam recommended – so that you can see each other in your study group
• Internet connection:
– Data transfer rate of 16 Mbit/s
– Up to 50 GB data volume I
• Web browser with HTML5 support:
– Google Chrome (recommended)
– Microsoft Edge

– Mozilla Firefox

Your software environment

We learn together in Microsoft Teams. You can find the self-learning modules on
our SITRAIN access e-learning platform – our programming exercises take place
in a virtual exercise laboratory (VE Lab).
In the following chapters we will show you how to register for all tools in advance
and test access.

For access during the Learning Journey you need two accounts:
• Microsoft account for Microsoft Teams
• SITRAIN MyTraining-Account for SITRAIN access, VE Lab and more Tools.
The SITRAIN MyTraining-Account is identical to Siemens ID/MyID.

3 Registration for SITRAIN access

With the Learning Journey, you have also acquired a Learning Membership for
SITRAIN access, which you must activate before the course begins.
Note You must activate access to SITRAIN access no later than two days before
the first live module.

Requirements
• You have received an email confirming the Learning Journey.
• You need a Siemens ID to register.
If you don't have a Siemens ID yet, you can find one here

Method
1. Click this link Activate SITRAIN access.
2. Click the shopping cart symbol.

3. Confirm the booking with „Next“.

4. Fill in the Participant Data and confirm with „Next“.
5. In the "Options" step, enter the reference number in the "Reference number"
field. You will find this in the subject line of this e-mail..
Confirm with „Next“.
6. Agree to the terms and conditions and book access.
7. We will inform you as soon as the complete activation process is concluded.
This can take up to two working days.
8. From that moment on, you can sign in with the access data of your SITRAIN
account in your personal learning environment of SITRAIN access.

Introduction
The following instructions will show you how to log into Microsoft Teams correctly.

Requirements
• You have received an invitation as a guest to Microsoft Teams from
SITRAIN/Siemens AG.
• Microsoft account
• Use one of the following web browsers:
– Microsoft Edge
– Google Chrome
– Mozilla Firefox

Method
1. Open the received mail and click on "Open Microsoft Teams".

2. Sign in with your Microsoft account.

If you don't already have one, you need to create a new Microsoft account.

3. Accept the Microsoft Terms of Service.

4. After a few confirmation dialogs, you may be asked if you want to open

Microsoft Teams.
Cancel this dialog with "Cancel"!

5. In the subsequent dialog, click on "Use the web app instead".

6. Confirm the following dialog with "Next".

7. Click on "I want to set up another method".

8. Select "Phone" as the other method.

9. A browser tab may opens to your sign-ins and Microsoft's privacy policy.
If this happens, click on "My Sign-Ins"“.

10. Enter your cell phone number and request a code via SMS.
Confirm your information with "Next".

11. Then enter the code that you received via SMS.

12. Then confirm the subsequent dialogs if necessary.

13. Open the terms of use for Siemens AG before you accept the terms of use by
clicking "Accept".

Now you can participate in the Learning Journey through Teams.

Since you are participating as a guest, you have to wait in the waiting area at the
beginning of a live module for your learning guide to be released.

The learning guide explains how to access and work with VE Lab during the live
module.

Testing the access to the virtual exercise environment "VE Lab"

To test the access to virtual exercise environment "VE Lab", proceed as follows:
1. Open our virtual exercise environment "VE Lab" in a web browser:
https://www.sitrain-vee.com/
2. Open "PowerShell" on your PC and enter the following command:

Test-NetConnection -computername appstream2.eu-central-1.aws.amazon.com -port 443

If you were able to open the web page and the connection test was successful,
access to our virtual exercise environment "VE Lab" is ensured:

If either of these tests failed, please consult with your IT administrator.
