Oaxaca:

La Guelaguetza

The Guelaguetza is one of the most important traditions thre is Oaxaca, originated in pre-Hispanic
times, it began as a ritual that was performed to the gods. To show their respect, year after year
they held a celebration where they offered dances, rituals and a great banquet that lasted eight
days. To date, this celebration is considered special and significant for Oaxacans.

The entire town participates in this Oaxacan tradition, during the Guelaguetza celebration you can
enjoy traditional dances, shows, cultural and sporting events, as well as the exquisite Oaxacan
cuisine.

Noche de Rábanos

The Night of the Radishes is one of the traditions there is Oaxaca that is part of the Christmas
festivities. This celebration takes place in the Historic Center of the city of Oaxaca de Juárez every
year on December 23, since 1897. On this day, children and adult artisans carve creative figures in
radishes, as well as make figures with the totomoxtle leaf and the immortal flower to compete.

From the early hours of the day the radish creations are made under the direction of a teacher and
at night the Jury dictates the final verdict in various categories such as: Traditional Radishes, Free
Radishes, Immortal Flower.
This day people usually eat fritters and break the plate in which they are served, this since
depending on the number of pieces in which the plate is broken it will be the luck of the person.

Martes de Brujas
Bruges Tuesday is a tradition that exists there is Oaxaca, specifically in Santa Cruz Xoxocotlán,
which heralds the arrival of Lent. A nocturnal celebration that is lit with lamps called witches.

According to the history of the town, this tradition has its origins in colonial times. When the
women prepared bean tamales and atole sweetened with panela, at dusk, lit by lamps called
"witches", they brought their husbands who participated in the construction of the Catholic
Temple to dinner. To date, on Bruges Tuesday, tamales and atole are eaten in the main square of
the town, to the rhythm of live music.

Tradicional boda oaxaqueña de tres días 


Traditional Oaxacan weddings are spectacular, not only because of the places where they can be
held there, but also because of all the Oaxacan traditions there are. They are characterized by
having three days of festivities and are considered one of the most important traditions in Oaxaca.

Tabasco:
Día de muertos
This festival is another of the most important that there is inTabasco, but also in all of Mexico
since the cult of the deceased is an ancestral tradition of homage to all the people who are no
longer among the living.

On the Day of the Dead in Tabasco, as in other localities, relatives usually create small altars at
different heights with a small roof. Said altar must have a crucifix, a black cross, an image of both
the deceased and the saint to whom the altar is erected. In addition, it should include a rosary, a
container with water and representative elements of both the earth and the salt.

Feria de Tabasco
The fair that is there in Tabasco is held annually from April 27 to May 7 in Villahermosa, the capital
of the country. It is one of the most important festivals in the country in terms of the number of
attendees since about 2 million visitors are estimated on these dates.

In the Tabasco fair, traditional float parades are held as well as an important agricultural, livestock
and cultural exhibition that is located in a modern park known as the Parque de Tabasco.

In addition to the above, the election of "La flor de oro" is held, a traditional beauty contest that
has as protagonists 17 young people who represent each of the different states that make up this
Mexican state. At the end of it, the winner receives the so-called golden flower.

Zapateo tabasqueño
This is the traditional dance that is there is the state of Tabasco, it can be seen in almost all the
fairs as well as in the exhibitions that are held in that state.

On the day of the Tabasco fair, the so-called "State Meeting of Zapateo Tabasqueño" is held where
the best dancers of this type of national traditional dance are rewarded.

Festival del Chocolate


The chocolate festival is another of the customs and traditions that exist there is the state of
Tabasco, it is celebrated in the town of Villahermosa between 23 and 27 of each November in
tribute to chocolate since the state of Tabasco is one of the main cocoa producers worldwide. .

As you can imagine, the main dish of this celebration is chocolate, both national and international
professionals come to this town presenting delicacies whose main ingredient is chocolate, which
can be in drinks, meals or even desserts.
