such as OPC for SCADA systems
or the manufacturer independent
IEC 61131-3 standard for pro-
gramming industrial controllers
have established themselves on
the market.

Nowadays, there is a further demand among

end users for the networking of heterogene-
ous components, their interoperability and
above all, the programming of these systems
with only one single software tool. The sys-
tem partner concept CoDeSys Automation
Alliance not only fulfils these requirements,
but is also a logical extension of the process
of standardisation mentioned above. The
