General Safety Information

Before using the scanner, please read the following items carefully.
1) Install the scanner on a flat and stable place.
2) Reserve adequate space around the scanner so that convenient operation and maintenance can
be performed.
3) Keep the scanner away from water source.
4) Don’t use or store the scanner in a place exposed to high temperature, moisture and serious
pollution, and avoid direct exposure to sunlight, strong light and heat of fire.
5) Do not place the scanner on a place exposed to vibration or impact.
6) No dew condensation is allowed to the scanner. In case of such condensation, do not turn on the
power until it has completely evaporated.
7) Connect the power adapter of scanner to a proper grounding socket and avoid using the same
socket with large motors or other devices that can lead to the vibration of power voltage. While
connecting the scanner, be careful to let the mark indication direction of plug of power cable face
the outside of scanner (the same with the mark indication direction of plug of USB cable).
8) Disconnect the power when the scanner is not used for a long time.
9) Do not let the water or electric material (like metal) go into the scanner. If this happens, turn off the
power immediately.
10) Shut down the scanner when connecting or disconnecting interfaces of connectors to avoid
damaging the control board.
11) The user cannot disassemble the scanner himself. While carrying, cleaning or doing other
maintenance to the scanner, the user should select the larger surface as the hand supporting
surface and avoid selecting the non-smooth surface, like side or edge of scanner, to prevent the
scratch of hands.
12) Keep this manual safe and at hand for ready reference.

Function explanation of partial modules:

1. Cheque inlet
Before putting cheque into the scanner, ensure that no obvious damage occurs to the cheque
and the cheque are neat and dry. While putting the cheque, the cheque should be level and its
left side should be parallel with the left side of paper inlet (if the left side of cheque and cheque
inlet can not be parallel, it is suggested that the incline angle should be less than 3°). When the
scanner fails to feed cheque due to improper operation, it is recommended to increase the
strength to feed cheque and try to make the left side of cheque parallel with that of cheque inlet,
then try again.
2. Error indication label
The display mode of error LED represents error type.
3. Cover plate of cartridge
Prevent water and dust from entering cartridge. When needing to replace cartridge, open the
cover plate of cartridge and press down the opening spanner for replacing cartridge to take off
the cartridge.
4. Power LED
When power LED is on, it indicates that the check scanner is powered on;
When power LED is off, it indicates that the check scanner is powered off.
5. Progress LED
After powering on, when USB isn’t connected, the LED is off; When USB is connected: if the

device idles, the LED is green and flashes; if the device is operating normally, the LED is orange;
when it occurs error to the device, the LED is red and flashes (confirm the error status according
to the error indication label corresponding with flash frequency).
6. Opening spanner of upper path module
When the device is abnormal or it is during the process of maintenance, hold the left and right
spanner simultaneously, then press them inside to open the upper path module and clean the
critical parts like CIS and magnetic head or exclude the cheque jam between the upper and lower
path under abnormal condition.
7. Opening spanner of cheque cassette
Push the opening spanner of cheque cassette upwards and force towards outside, then you can
open the back cover of cheque cassette and take out the cheque.
8. Opening spanner of turning module
Push the spanner forward and lift it up, then you can open the turning module and exclude the
abnormity or carry out the maintenance.
9. Power switch
Press down “O” to turn off the power and press down “-” to turn on the power.
10. Turning spanner of paper out path
Under abnormal condition, when the cheque is jammed into the paper out path, take off the cheque
cassette, push the spanner towards outside, rotate it anticlockwise and then turn the paper out path
under mechanism upwards to clear off the jammed cheque.

4 Installing check scanner

4.1 Unpacking
Unpack the package of scanner and check whether all items, which are listed on the packing list, are
present and in a good condition. If any item is damaged or missing, please contact your dealer.
4.2 Fixing check scanner
4.2.1 Installation and fixing

1) The check scanner must be installed at a flat and stable place, and it should be fixed firmly and
reliably in horizontal mode. While fixing the mechanism, ensure that the surface of the
mechanism fixing plate is flat and the flatness of it is less than 0.3mm, avoiding the mechanism
being forced after the fixing. Refer to the following figure for the size of the mechanism fixing
hole.

Figure 4.2-1 Mounting mode of check scanner

Figure 4.2-2 Installation size of check scanner

-8-
BS-C100p User’s Manual

4.2.2 Space reserved for maintenance of check scanner

Figure 4.2-3 Space for installing the check scanner whose cassette’s capacity is 600

Refer to the above figure, the maximum size of the mechanism, whose cassette’s capacity is 600, is

363.5mm×194.3mm×383.5mm. The maximum open angle of upper path module and turning module

is 90°, and their respective rotation radius is 134.9mm and 75.4mm while opening the cover. Since

the sizes of cheque cassettes are different, the height needed to install the machine is also different.

The maximum size of the mechanism, whose cassette’s capacity is 300, is 305.7mm, and the

concrete height is set according to the need of user. For convenient maintenance, it is suggested to

reserve the space for opening to the maximum angle after installing the mechanism into the system,

and ensure that there is enough space for maintaining the check scanner routinely and cleaning the

elements, sensors, magnetic head and various rollers of it reliably and quickly.

5 Routine maintenance
5.1 Cleaning
The names and positions of the parts that need cleaning are as follows: (magnetic head, CIS, roller,
sensor), and it is suggested that the check scanner should be cleaned every month.

Figure 5.1-1 Cleaning the parts

1) Firstly, turn off the power of check scanner;

2) Secondly, push the opening spanner of upper path module (green) to open the upper path
module;
3) Clean the elements (CIS glass surface), roller, magnetic head, float roller and dustproof of every
sensor as shown in the above figure with soft cotton cloth dipped with pure alcohol (it should be
wrung out) or soft textile, and wait for a while until the alcohol evaporates completely. Then clean
them with cleaning card.
4) Finally, close the upper path module of check scanner and turn on the power.

BS-C100p User’s Manual

5.2 CIS data calibration

The check scanner adopts contact image sensor (CIS) as its scanning element. When the CIS has
been used for a long time, the light intensity will lower due to aging of its light-emitting element, and
the check scanner needs to regenerate benchmark data after calibration.
The CIS data calibration is conducted via command mode. After entering the data calibration mode,
put the benchmark sample for calibration (white copper plate paper) into the check scanner, then the
check scanner will automatically complete the data calibration and exit from data calibration mode,
and the regenerated benchmark data after calibration will be automatically fixed in the internal Flash
memory of check scanner.
5.3 Caution
 Do not clean the magnetic head, CIS and roller with hands, metal or hard objects like forceps so
as to prevent magnetic head, CIS and roller being scratched;
 In order to improve the using lifetime of magnetic head and image scanning quality, it is
recommended to clean the magnetic head, roller and CIS glass surface per month. If the working
environment is poor, or the check scanner has many printing and scanning jobs, the cleaning
frequency should be increased properly;
 Before starting routine maintenance of the check scanner, make sure that the power is turned off;
 Do not use organic solvents like gasoline, acetone, etc.;
 Please wait for the cleaning solution to evaporate totally before turning on power to continue the
printing.
