Answer the following questions using what you learned in the lesson.
1. Name one positive and one negative influence peers may have on your health beliefs or
behaviors. Analyze how each one could impact your personal health. Use complete sentences to
explain.
a. Positive influence:  Your friends can be good role models.  Impact:  By being a good
role model and following your friends’ advice, you can stay out of trouble. 
b. Negative influence:  A negative friend can be doing risky behaviors and are in risky
situations.  Impact:  If you have a friend that’s doing risky things, you could follow
them as well. 
2. Use complete sentences to explain how social media might lead to depression among some
teenagers.  Our society now is so absorbed in social media that a lot of times it leads to
depression. For example, a nasty comment on someone’s post could lead to that someone’s doubt
in themselves. 
3. Use complete sentences to explain how social media can interfere with the social development
of teenagers. _A lot of teenagers today, are so absorbed and influenced by social media that it
can lead to unhealthy eating behaviors and physical behaviors 
4. Name 2 government regulations or public policies implemented to promote our health or
safety. Give your opinion on whether or not you think these regulations are making a difference
in our health and safety behaviors

5. Name one positive and one negative way the use of technology impact the personal health of
you, your family, or your community health.
a. Positive influence:  Because you can search for anything on the internet, you can look up
tips on your health. 
b. Negative influence:  Because there are a lot of social media models and idols, you can
obsess over how they look compared to you. 
6. Name one positive and one negative way families impact your personal health beliefs and
behaviors.
a. Positive influence:  Having a family that’s supportive and enthusiastic about healthy
choice making is a positive influence. 
b. Negative influence: _At family gatherings, families can influence drinking or a lot of
food absorption. 
7. In the space below use your own words to describe what “perception of norms” means and
how it influences health behaviors.
Who you are hanging out with, what happens at your school, what is talked about on the news
or social media all hangs under the term “the norm”. For example, if most people at your
school smoke, you will most likely follow the “norm”.

8. In the space below, describe how your own personal values and beliefs help you make good
decisions for your health.
Your own personal values and beliefs help guide you into making good decisions. For
example, if you are a Christian, and you go to church and pray, it instills good morals and
behaviors.
