ON GULAYAN SA TAHANAN
The unprecedented challenge to public health, employment, and food systems
brought about by COVID-19 lead to initiation of Gulayan sa Tahanan program.
Undernourished people increased in number and unemployment became rampant in the
whole country.
Gulayan sa Tahanan provides a greener and more sustainable environment. It
also nurutres ecological balance in nature which is very beneficial for the living
organisms. In addition, it promotes ecological management of solid wastes for use in
planting and composting as source of plant nutrients.
The Gulayan sa Tahanan enables to use vacant lots, empty pots and recyclable
materials. In this time that people should stay at home, it is a good form of exercise,
enjoyment, use of leisure time and a productive hobby.
