REVIEW TENSES

Tenses Form Uses Signals


Present Simple -repeated actions (hobby, habits..)
-truth
-schedule
-if-clause/as soon as/
when/before/after… (future
meaning)
Eg. If it rains tomorrow, I will stay
at home.
As soon as he arrives, I will tell him
the truth.
Present continuous - happening now
- future plan (~near future)
- annoying habits (thói quen gây ra
sự khó chịu)
Eg: He is always making noise.
They are shouting all the time.
Present Perfect - already done, not mention the
time, focus on present result.
- focus on experience
- started in the past, still continue
at present and in the future
(for/since)
Past Simple - past activities (habits, events)
- used to V (past habits)
- action interrupting (Hđ xen vào)
-Conditional Type 2
Past continuous - happening at an exact time in the
past
- 2 past actions at the same time
- action in progress and
interrupted by another
Past Perfect -happened before another action
in the past
Future Simple - future actions without
preparation, plan…
- promise
- offer (đề nghị giúp đỡ ng khác khi
gặp khó khăn)
- Main clause (If 1)
Near Future -future plans (~P.Cont)
- prediction with evidence (dự
đoán có bằng chứng, dấu hiệu)
Future Continuous Will be Ving - happening at an exact time in the
future
