Uses of the Plants

Food
Plants provide food. Human and animals eat the
fruits, leaves and roots of the plants.

• Leafy vegetable- celery, cabbage, malunggay


• Root- carrot, potatoes, radish
• Stem-kangkong, onion and garlic
• Fruit- tomato, cucumber, banana
• Seeds- rice, corm, wheat, oats
MEDICINE
Plants are medicinal. They can cure ailments.
Cosmetic Products

Plants can be made as beauty products. Papaya


fruits are used in whitening soaps. Aloe vera and
coconut oil are used in making shampoos.
Cucumber and lemon are good moisturizers and
skin softeners. Essential oils from flowers and
fruits are used in making perfumes.
Source of Oxygen

Plants make our surroundings beautiful. They


keep our air fresh. Plants give off oxygen that
humans and animal need.
Clothing Material

Plant fiber are used as raw materials for


clothing. Jusi from pineapple, linen from flax
and cotton fibers are best in making Barong
Tagalog, gowns, dresses and towels. Hemp
(abaca), cord grass, pandan and buri are used to
make footwear and native bags.
Fuel

Dried woods, leaves, twigs and peelings can be


used to make fire. Wood and rice hulls (ipa) are
used as fuel in heating and cooking.
Building Materials

Narra and coco lumber are used in building


houses, street posts, boats and furniture.
The leaves and barks of trees are made into
paper.
