I. OBJECTIVES

At the end of the experiment students must be able to:

Cognitive
a.) understand what is Abowd and Beale’s interaction framework.

Psychomotor:
a.) determine how Abowd and Beale’s interaction framework is applied

Affective
a.) appreciate how Abowd and Beale’s interaction framework is used

II. BACKGROUND INFORMATION

In order to accomplish this task, the student must have a clear understanding of the following
topics:
 The Computer and Task

III.PROCEDURES

Search for any device / tool / gadget / technology, the weirder the better.

1. Give its purpose / objective / usage.

2. Describe the controls
3. Describe its feedback mechanism (visual, auditory, haptic)

Figure 1 Powerdot 2.0

An electrical muscle stimulator (EMS), such as the PowerDot 2.0, can be used to reduce pain,
speed up muscle recovery, and improve athletic performance.PowerDot 2.0 is an NMES and
TENS device that has been cleared by the FDA. You can get almost 14 hours of electric muscle
stimulation in total, which can help to decrease exercise-induced pain and speed up our recovery
after strenuous CrossFit workouts and other activities.
What’s in the package, here are what to expect when having this product.
PowerDot 2.0 Duo, which features two pods instead of one, is an upgrade from PowerDot 2.0.
We may use it on both legs at the same time because of this feature.
In addition to the Bluetooth-enabled pods, the kit includes six electrode pads, cables to link the
pods to the electrode pads, a USB charging cable, and a carrying case to keep everything
together. PowerDot provides a feature-rich smartphone software that is available for both iOS
and Android that can be used to operate the hardware.

PowerDot currently offers 12 programs via tis mobile app

which are split into four categories:
 Performance: Improve muscle endurance, strength
endurance, resistance, strength, and explosive strength.
 Wellness: Think of it as a massage session to get rid of knots
and muscle tension.
 Smart Pain Relief: Using TENS, PowerDot can block the
pain signal from reaching your brain, thus providing instant
relief.
 Smart Recovery: Avoid training fatigue and relieve muscle
and joint soreness.

How to use Powerdot:

Using PowerDot is as easy as attaching the self-adhesive
electrode pads to your skin over the muscle group you want to
treat, attaching the cables, and selecting one of the programs I
mentioned above.
If you choose an online program, you may be able to choose its
length or provide feedback on your perceived pain level before
and after the program has finished.

While the program is running, you can use the PowerDot app
to adjust the strength of the electric stimulation on a scale ranging from 0 to 100, depending on
your preferences. Of course, you have the option to pause, stop, and restart the software at any
time.
Use Abowd and Beale’s Framework and give one examples of the following:

 Describe the cue that the user needs to act?

 You need to pod patches in the skin and by using its mobile application to activate it.
 What is the goal of the action that the user performs?
 The goal is to stimulate muscle fibers and nerve terminals with electric pulses delivered via
the skin, which is known as electric muscle stimulation (EMS). This temporarily suppresses
pain signals, increases recovery, and develops the targeted muscle area by recruiting muscle
fibers to the site of the pain signal.
 How does the user articulate the action in terms of the interface?
 The pod switches are clearly labelled. The language provided here (the labelled pod switches)
allows the user to articulate their task without difficulty.
 How does the output of the system change in response to the action?
 The system responds by activating the pod patches on its switch to stimulate different
programs.
