A. Based on our discussions about Asian and Filipinos Norms of

Morality, MAKE A STAND about the following issues(Philippine
setting). Make at least three citations on the specific values/
standards of Filipinos/ Asians in which you anchored your opinion/
explanation.

1. House Bill No. 4982 (Sogie Bill)

- Atty. Claire De Leon, human rights lawyer,
Babaylanes, Inc.
“We're just really fighting for equality. What we want is equality”
- Jamie Montilla Doble, U.P. Babaylan
“Hindi lang naman LGBT people ang may SOGIE- everyone has
SOGIE.”
- Tintin Lonotoc, Metro Manila Pride
“Putting things into law is just the start of shifting worldviews, it’s
just the start of getting people to have an open perspective.”

One of the most serious issues confronting our country now

is discrimination and inequity against the LGBTQ community. As
we all know, God created us all equally, so why are there still
those that mistreat and bully the LGBTQ community? We've all
seen how people treated the LGBTQ population, particularly guys.
They yelled at them, judged them based on what they were
wearing, called them foul words that harmed them, and, worst of
all, killed them. Yes, they are upsetting. They are still human
beings who can experience pain, but they do not fight back
because, in the end, they are still immoral. I'm not sure why they
don't respect LGBTQ people as human beings, because they, too,
have the right to live peacefully in this judgmental world. However,
most people still do not recognize them in the same way that they
recognize others.
With this law, the LGBTQ people can finally exercise their
human rights while still being protected. And with this law,
discrimination and inequality will be reduced, and hopefully
eliminated, in our country. So let us all work together to pass this
law so that we may have a better place, not just a better place,
but the finest place to live.

2. House Bill 7303 (Divorce Bill)

-Atty. Aldwin Salumbides of the Coalition of
Concerned Families of the Philippines
"We have to emphasize that marriage isn't cheap. Family is
precious.”
-Deputy Speaker Eddie Villanueva, a Christian pastor
and head of the Citizens’ Battle Against Corruption Party
"It is our hope, therefore, that the Philippines shall forever stand
as a beacon of hope for the family and society."

- Senator Cynthia Villar

“It’s not the right time for us to have divorce. I think we will have
a hard time because we are a predominantly Catholic country”

"As a result, they are no longer two, but one flesh."

Therefore, let no one divide what God has brought together. " –
Matthew 19:6 Divorce is not permitted in genuine sacramental
marriages, according to the Catholic Church. Divorce was deemed
immoral by the Catholic Church's Catechism because it violated
natural law and caused chaos in the family and society. As a result,
as a Christian, I oppose the legality of divorce. I am steadfast in
my opinion that divorce should remain illegal in our country.
It is not what God desires. Nothing in the Bible since I began
studying the Bible will teach you that God favored and felt better
about divorce. It was only permitted due to men's obstinacy. God
did not create man and woman to be united and then separated if
they had difficulties. It should constantly be remembered that
marriage is for life. It's a promise to God to be faithful to each
other until death. Divorce is not God's ideal because it separates
people whom God has bonded and made one.

B. Read about Heinz Dilemma. It is one of the well known

version used as an example in many ethics and morality issues
and about Kohlberg's theory of moral development. Decide based
on your own moral decision applying what specific stage in
Kohlberg's theory. Answer in 5-10 sentences only this
question:
Should Heinz have broken into the laboratory to
steal the drug for his wife? Why or why not? Support your answer.

From a theoretical standpoint, it makes no difference what the

participant believes Heinz should do. According to Kohlberg's
thesis, the form of the participant's response is more important
than the rationale they supply. In stage four the law and order,
Heinz should not steal the medicine because stealing is unlawful
under the law. OR Heinz should steal the medication for his wife
while still serving the required punishment and paying the druggist
what he is owed. Criminals cannot just ignore the law; their
actions have consequences. I believe that if we just follow the law
that was set to us we can avoid bigger problems in the future. Just
like how God made the laws in the world, I think that for Heinz
there is a purpose that he will chose the right thing to do which is
to obey what is the law and order in our society.
