To Whom It May Concern:

It is a privilege to be asked by Ms. Jennifer Davies to share this letter of reference. I worked with
Jennifer as a University Consultant for the University of Lethbridge. In this capacity, I was able to
observe her in the classroom setting and to have follow-up discussions about her teaching practices.
Jennifer had a very successful PS III practicum. I found myself asking how it could be that Jennifer is
just an Intern Teacher as she conducted herself as if she was a veteran teacher! This is definitely
Jennifer’s ‘niche’ – to work with Division I and II students. I feel though, that with her background
that Jennifer would be capable of teaching any grade level.

Jennifer’s planning was exemplar. The detail and thought that Jennifer put into her planning resulted
in very thorough long range, unit and daily lesson plans. Bottom line is that Jennifer definitely knew
where she was taking her students. To teach grade ones, a person needs to have those unique
attributes to do so successfully. Jennifer had many! She has the solid teacher voice (melodic contour
and infliction), enthusiasm, constantly monitoring her students and was very animated. She has that
“presence” – confident, passionate and energetic.

An area that really stood out was Jennifer’s classroom management. She was really on top of all the
needs in the class. She had great expectations and she held her students responsible for their actions.
Her consistency provided the students with a classroom where everyone knew what was expected of
them. The result was a group of grade ones who were on task and working hard on the various
assignments.

Not only were her lessons engaging but Jennifer also demonstrated her ability to differentiate in order
to accommodate her students who required it. Jennifer effectively demonstrated how she was able to
work with the whole group and still provide the necessary attention and support to those students
needing accommodations. No easy undertaking when you are working with grade one students.
Another strong area for Jennifer is her ability to reflect on her lessons. Through her reflections, she
was able to find areas to improve upon and use these insights in her following classes. She clearly
demonstrated her desire, her drive to become a better teacher.

I am very excited about Jennifer’s future as I know that she will become a truly valued member of
the teaching profession. Without a doubt, Jennifer will do the teaching profession proud!

Sincerely,

Rocky Wilson
