a. Put some water in your cup.

b. Sprinkle black pepper all over the surface. What does the pepper do?

c. Add a drop of dish soap to the water. What does the pepper do? Record your
observations.

- WHEN ADDING A DROP OF DISH SOAP TO THE WATER, THE PEPPER

SINK UNDER THE WATER.

• Straw,
• Plastic Sheet,
• 2 Kinds of Solid Like (Salt, Pepper, Sugar, Talcum Powder)
a. Take some water with a straw and put a few drops on plastic sheet.

a.1. What is the shape of the drop?

- THE SHAPE OF THE DROPS ARE CIRCLE-LIKE OR DOME-LIKE.
a.2. Move a drop around with your straw. Does the drop change?

- YES, THE DROPLET CHANGES INTO FLAT-LIKE SHAPE.

b. Move one of the drops close to another one with your straw. What
happens when two drops meet?
- WHEN THE DROPLETS MEET EACH OTHER, THEY WILL
COMBINE TOGETHER, AS WE MOVE THEM.

c. Put a small amount of one of the solids (salt, pepper, sugar,

talcum powder) on one of the drops. Does the shape change?
- YES. SOLIDS CHANGES THE SHAPE OF THE DROP, BECAUSE
THE PARTICLES OF SOLIDS ARE COMPACT, WHILE THE
WATER HAS NO DEFINITE SHAPE, UNLESS IT ADJUST TO
THE SHAPE OF THE SOLID.

d. Try this again with the other solids

TALCUM POWDER- it changes the shape of droplet; it absorbs the water.

SUGAR- it changes the shape of droplet.

BLACK PEPPER- it changes the shape of droplet. but stays look like
circle.
