Overview of Connection Between Vision System
and VT5 Series
With the VT5 Series, you can display images from vision systems or check their settings in two ways: via “vision system monitor connection” using
Ethernet cables and via “RGB connection” using an RGB cable.

VT5×XG/CV-X Connection Guide
Operate the VT5 Series to use vision system monitoring via Ethernet connection.
The procedures in this guide describe connection procedures using VT STUDIO Ver. 6.01 and VT5 main unit system program Ver. 2.01. If you are using earlier
versions, please update them in advance. Also note that the IP address of a vision system is assumed to be “192.168.0.10” (default). To change the IP address, refer
to “Reference: When Setting the IP address of a Vision System Manually.”
1 Switch to system mode on the VT5 main unit. Press and hold on a place where no touch switches are located on the screen.
After some buttons appear, touch the [System Mode] button.
2 Under [System Mode], select [VT Machine Setup] -> [Ethernet Setup] to set the IP address.
(In the example below, the IP address is set to “192.168.0.11.”)
3 Next, select [Tool] under [System Mode], and then select [Vision System Monitoring].

7 Conduct monitoring on the vision system monitor’s dedicated system screen. The vision system monitor’s dedicated
system screen supports the following functions with an operation panel:
• Selects and displays the connection destination from the vision systems that have been registered for monitoring.
• Switches between one-screen and four-screen displays.
• Saves the displayed image.
One Point
You can use the full-screen display for each monitor No. by touching the number on the operation panel.
The four-screen display can also be used by touching the [All] button.
One Point
You can move the operation panel area to a desired position or minimize/maximize it.

Troubleshooting
On the VT5 Series, I cannot switch to system mode because the system menu does not appear even after
Q I press and hold on a place where no touch switches are located.
Q Can I set the IP address of the VT5 Series only under System Mode?
A It can also be set from VT STUDIO. In VT STUDIO, select [Resource] -> [VT setting] -> [Ethernet/Language/Video] to set it.
If I select [Tool] under [System Mode], and then select [Vision System Monitoring], a message “The “Use vision
Q
system for monitoring” setting is disabled” appears and I cannot move to the vision system’s monitor screen.
A In VT STUDIO, you need to select the [Use vision system for monitoring] check box and transfer the screen data to the
VT5 Series. In VT STUDIO, select [Resource] -> [Periphery connection] -> [Vision system monitor] and then select the
[Use vision system for monitoring] check box.
Even if I open “Vision System Monitoring” under System Mode on the VT5 Series and push the [Search] button
Q
on the [Search] screen, no vision systems appear on the search results.
A Check the following:
• Check if the VT5 Series and the vision system are connected via Ethernet.
• Check if the IP addresses of the VT5 Series and the vision system belong to the same network group.

Example of Setting to Place a Vision System
Monitor Part on the Operation Screen
The vision system monitor function available via Ethernet connection can be displayed in two ways: on the system mode screen and on the operation screen.
In order to monitor a vision system on the operation screen, you need to place a vision system monitor display part on the base screen in VT STUDIO.
2 Select the “Display area size” and the “Display mode,” and then click [Vision system monitor setting].
You can select the display mode from the following:
•O
ne-screen display
•T
wo-screen display
•F
our-screen display
* You can operate a vision system only when “Single screen display” is selected.
Select this check box when you are connecting a USB console (or USB mouse) to
the VT5 Series to operate vision systems.
(This is only enabled when the “Display area size” is “1024 × 768,” “800 × 600,” or “640 × 480.”)
3 Enter the IP address of the vision system that you will connect and the monitor number of the vision system monitor display
that you will use.
