DANCE ANALYSIS QUESTIONS:

1. Describe the dance in terms of the elements used.


_The elements of dance used in the video are space, timing, dance energies, bodily shapes,
and group shapes. The performers are traveling in a horizontal or straight direction , occupies
a space to perform, performs small and large movements and are looking at different
directions as their focus. _____

2. What are the directions used in the dance?


The directions used in the dance are sideward, forward, backward and diagonal.

3. What is the timing in the dance? Was the rhythmic structure even or uneven?
The performers use different time duration of every movement. The movements also follow the
pulse or the accented beat of the music to determine how long the movement should last. The
performers are sometimes moving slower than the normal beat but most of the time the
movements are synchronized to the normal beat. ___________________________________

4. What are the qualities of energies used? Are the movements bound or free?
The qualities of dance used are sustained, vibratory, swinging, and suspended. The
movements of the dancers are bound because the movements were controlled.

5. What kind of bodily shapes were used? Was it rounded, angular or combination of two? Was it
symmetrical or asymmetrical?
The combination of angular and rounded bodily shapes were used in the dance. The
movements were sometimes smooth and sometimes bouncy or shaky. The bodily shape was
asymmetrical because the movements of both sides of the body are different from each other.

6. What are the group shaped applied? Was it symmetrical or asymmetrical?


The group shape applied was the wide shape because there is still space in between the two
dancers. The movements were symmetrical because the two dancers project the same exact
movements. _________________________________________________________________
7. How does the dance performance effectively apply the elements of dance in the performance?
Why?
The elements were used and combined to effectively create diverse movements of the body
and at the same time symmetrical movements within the group. Because of the elements, the
dance movements were suitable for the music and used appropriately towards the whole
performance with the help of proper timing and beat.

8. How does the elements of dance affects the overall effect of the performance?
The elements of dance are the foundation of any performance that uses dance movements,
without it, a performance will be boring because no body movements and style will be used to
give impact and to energize the audience.
