Skill is the ability to use one's knowledge effectively and readily in execution or
performance. (Merriam Webstar, 1828) As a student of management, I am looking forward
to management related job (specially in HR field). The organizations generally looking for
the following skills: Conceptual Skills, Interpersonal and Communication Skills, Decision-
Making Skills, Diagnostic and Analytical Skills, Emotional Intelligence, Delegating, Team
Building, Time Management and Computer Skills (like Microsoft Office and Email
communication). In human resource field, the organizations in Bangladesh give priority
those who are good at Bangladesh Labour Act and Industrial Relations Ordinance.

Important skills that I can contribute towards the organizations are briefly described below:
• Interpersonal and Communication Skills: My communication and interpersonal
skills may ensure the free flow of information within the organization, whether formal
or informal, verbal or written, which help to reduce conflicts and create good
collaboration with the team. It will facilitate smooth functioning of the organization and
to achieve the company’s goals and objectives easily.
• Decision-making Skills: I am good at quantitative aptitudes which will help me in
decision making. I have a good intuition that save me from different unexpected
situation in my personal life. I believe that I can apply that in my professional life in
situation where quantitative aptitudes do not work.
• Emotional Intelligence: It is the ability to understand, use, and manage one’s own
emotions in positive ways to relieve stress, communicate effectively, empathize with
others, overcome challenges and defuse conflict. I have decent level of emotional
intelligence which will help me to control my impulsive feelings and behaviors which
further control unwanted situation in my workplace. My emotional intelligence will
guide me to maintain good relationships and inspire and influence others, work well in
a team, and manage conflict. (Jeanne Segal, 2020)
• Computer Skills: I am good at MS-Word, MS-Excel, MS-PowerPoint, MS-Outlook,
Google Sheets and Email Communication. In my future organization, I can contribute
in digital reporting, advance quality presentation of plans and ideas and so on with
computer skills of mine.
• Time Management Skills: Time management skills include a variety of skills that will
help someone in managing his/her time well. I am very organized at my work which
save my time. I prioritized my work on the basis of its importance and time duration.
My goals and planning are clear which will help me stick to my schedule. I believe that
my future organization will be gainer by the application of my time management skills
in organizational environment.
• Legal Skills: Now, I am focusing to know each and every aspect of Bangladesh Labour
Act and Industrial Relations Ordinance which are very important to manage human
resources of different industries in Bangladesh. Still I do not memorize all the articles
but I am working on it and put my heart and soul to master the laws. My knowledge of
these laws will help the organization to manage conflict and dispute between employer
and employee.

Management skills can be developed through learning and practical experience as a

manager. (CFI Education Inc., n.d.) So, I will try my best to flourish the skills I have and
